Rating: Great fins
Reviewer: Wendy O.  -  View all my reviews
Im a novice snorkeler and didnt realize that fins come in different lengths for different uses. I bought these, and they were clearly overkill as they are very long, much more so than necessary for what I was doing. In spite of that, Im happy with them. They fit perfectly, stay on my feet while swimming and are comfortable, except for a slight chaffing below one ankle that I can probably find a way to overcome the next time I use them. I was worried that my legs would get tired since there was so much area but it didnt seem to be a problem. Definitely keepers.

I bought a pair of these 2 years ago for snorkeling and scuba in Cozumel. They worked so well that my son kept taking them over his. This year I bought 5 more pair so everyone in the family has them and they are all happy. Sizing is good. I wear a mens US size 10 and the large fit perfectly. My son is size 12 and he can also wear the large but his XL is better for him. These fins are very efficient and light weight. I have very bad knees and it is difficult for me to use the heavier strap back fins. We went on 7 dives and snorkeled daily on the last trip and I had no issue with these fins.

Rating: Caribbean Full Foot Fins
Reviewer: Jacqua K.
I really have nothing to compare these to. I am a complete novice at owning fins! I have never owed fins before, just borrowed. Went snorkeling in Bahamas and they seemed to work just fine! They seem to fit OK. They are a little large for my feet, but not so large that I wanted to go thru the hassle of returning them and trying another size, given the fact that I ordered them immediately before we were leaving for the Bahamas and didnt have the time. And not so large that they fell off my feet.....so I was ok with that. I think the fins themselves are a little large for what I want or need.....but Im going to use them for doing laps in the swimming pool anyway. I am sure this review will help absolutely no one else!!! But there you have it. However, I do LOVE LOVE LOVE the prescription googles I got from you guys two years ago!!!!!! GREAT!!!!! I can see!!! And one of the friends we travel with, who also has eyes as bad as mine, looked into buying a prescription google from somewhere else and did not because of the cost. Your cost was VERY reasonable!!! I referred him to you, but we were leaving too soon and he wouldnt have had time to get it, but Im pretty sure hell do it for next year. THANKS.

Questions and Answers for Ocean Quest Caribbean Full Foot Fins:

  • Lisa:

Hello- Can you tell me the measurements? Thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The fins sizing is generally considered to be true to normal tennis shoe or sneaker sizing.

  • Lisa:

Ok - thanks. Another question: can you give me how many inched long are the fins?(length). I want to get a bag and I need to know how long they are.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Lisa, these fins are 24" in length. The bag that I would suggest for these fins is the: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-76/018207/Scuba-Mask--Fin---Snorkel-Backpack-Bag.html. If you would like to place an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • John:

If I purchase the lycra diving socks to wear under the dive fins, should I order a size larger fin to have room for the socks?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

No. Purchase them by your normal sneaker style shoe size. Lycra socks aren't thick enough to alter the sizing.

  • Kimm:

My husband wears an 11 E shoe size. His foot is very wide. What fin size would you suggest?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The only way to fit an extra wide foot is to go up one size. As long as the item is not used in the water you have up to 60 days to refund or exchange it.

  • Russell:

How long are the fins ? I want to make sure they fit in my carry on suitcase. Thanks

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    These are around 23 inches.

  • Susan:

Are the foot moldings a flexible rubber or a stiffer plastic? Do your toes stick out the front?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Susan, the foot pocket is made of a soft durable rubber. As for your toes if they do stick out of the foot pocket it will not hurt you.

  • steve:

Im taking a trip and want to do some snorkeling. My friend said they make fins that are shorter and easy for traveling with. I have long ones and they are a pain to bring along. Can you tell me which fins I should get.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Actually these are a perfect fin for this. Short and light weight.

  • Kathy:

My 16 yr old son, 6 ft 7 in, wears a 15 shoe. He wants a diving fin for springs areas down here in Florida. We do not want to pay much. Which fin do you suggest. This fin only goes up to size 13. Thanks. Kathy Sutton

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Currently we do not offer a full foot fin that goes beyond size 13 by any manufacturer. He will need to go with an open heel fin and a light bootie or neoprene sock.

  • Margot:

I am looking for a fin which does not cause my feet to float to the surface so easily. What do you recommend? I prefer a closed toe. Thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Most all scuba and snorkeling fins are neutral to slightly negatively buoyant, but not all. Most all full foot fins have some sort of opening at the toe, whether it is small holes or a larger opening. This is designed to let the air escape the fin and keep it from popping off the feet easily when in use. Manufacturers rarely give information on the buoyancy of a fin so in the end, trial and error become your only real test.

  • Andy:

Sometimes I wear a 91/2 and sometimes a 10 depending on the cut of the shoe. Which size fin should I order?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Andy, you are going to order the size 9-11.

  • Andrea:

How do these compare to the FF-9 Also i were 8 or 8.5 womens what size should i order

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

For this fin we'd recommend the Mens 5-7/Womens 6-8 size. They are a very nice quality fin that compares to most any full foot, bladed snorkel fin.

  • Rachel:

I like my fins to be on the tight side. I am a seasoned snorkeling looking to upgrade my fins. What size would you recommend if I wear a 7.5 in sneakers? Also, how do these compare to the mare fins?

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Dear Rachel, Order the Caribbean Full Foot Fins Mens 5-7/Womens 6-8 Blue and your all set.

  • Loretta:

Are these fins lighter (weight and length) than the Aqua lung slingshots?

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The ocean quest fins are significantly lighter than the sling shots but the sling shots are slightly larger.

  • Barb:

Id like to order these fins for my husband who needs a size 12. In the snorkel package, theyre available in a mens size 11-13, but the highest they go if I order individually is 9-11. Can I get them in size 11-13?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Barb, yes you can. Just give us a call and we can help you switch them to the correct size.

  • Brad:

I want to order a pair of fins but I wear a size 11 shoe - do I buy the 9-11 or the 11-13?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Brad, i would suggest going with the size 11-13.

  • Blair:

My son is going on his first diving trip and we are ordering the carribean snorkel set . What size fin he is about a 9 to 9.5 shoe

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Manufacturers typically recommend purchasing fins based on a normal sneaker-style shoe size. In this case, the 9-11 size would be the one.

  • elle:

I am a 106 pound woman with a size 6 foot. I need recommendation on fins, light weight and easy push through the water.

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hi Elle, The Ocean QuestCaribbean Full Foot Fins is a great fin for that.

  • Brian:

I wear a mens size 9 shoe and plan on wearing the fins with 3 mm dive socks. I also dont want the fins to be too loose. Would the 7-9 be too tight?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

These fins are designed to be worn barefoot. Adding the 3mm sock would make the 7-9 very difficult if not impossible to get on, although the next size larger may be too large for a snug fit.

  • Rob:

Does anyone know how much these fins weigh (Size 9-11)?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Rob, the weight on these is 4.4lbs.

The Ocean Quest Caribbean Full Foot Fins are the perfect warm water answer for divers and snorkelers. The Caribbean Full Foot Fin features proven Channel Thrust Technology that reduces water spillage over the sides of the blade during the kick cycle to give the diver optimal performance.

The light weight blade packs well and is perfect for travel. It is designed using a durable hydro-plastic with a rubber center section that allows the fin to remain relatively soft and comfortable during those relaxing dives. As the diver exerts more effort in their kick it causes the rubberized portion of the fin to flex allowing the hydro-plastic portion to curve around it forming a water directing channel giving the diver increased efficiency. This forces the water down the blade, propelling the diver, rather than allowing the water to be wasted by spilling over the sides. Maintaining this optimal thrust throughout every phase of the finning stroke minimizes fatigue while maintaining consistent performance. Excellent blade snap offers additional performance on the normally weaker up-stroke of the diver’s kick. The Caribbean Full Foot Fins are manufactured offered in blue with black accenting and available in shoe sizes 3-13.
