Rating: Redundancy = Extra Safety
Reviewer: David Guccione, - View all my reviews
I and my dive buddy wife both have Sherwood Alum 6cf pony bottles which have become permanent parts of our dive configuration, used on every dive. After 15 years of diving and instructing all over the world, we have come to value the redundancy which a pony bottle gives. She attaches hers alongside her 80cf. I carry mine under my right arm pit on caribinners. We both hang the second stage reg around the neck with surgical tubing. We highly recommend the 6cf pony for the extra safety it brings.

Tough to go wrong with a tank but a visual inspection sticker would have been nice

Questions and Answers for Sherwood 6 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank:
ivan:
CON KIDS USE THIS?
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
All scuba equipment is designed for use by certified scuba divers of any age. It is not designed nor is it safe for use by anybody to use without a scuba certification.
mATT:
how long could i stay under water with the sherwood 6 cubic foot alumanun tank
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
This depends on several factors. The average new diver breathes around 1cu ft per min. So at the surface this tank would last around 6 min. But as you go underwater the air will not last as long. At a depth of 33 ft this time would be cut in half. At a depth of 66ft the surface time would be 1/3, so how fast you breathe and the depth will affect how long the air will last.
Johnathan:
I understand I will not get a full fill. I just dont know how to figure the number of "fills" i would get from this tank. thats my question.
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Unfortunately we are a scuba company. We do not have information on the number of fills a scuba tank will perform on a paintball cylinder.
Johanthan:
I am looking to buy a scuba tank to for use in paintball...I have a fill station rated to 5000 psi. my question is how many times can I fill my 48ci 3000 psi bottle on this 6cf aluminum tank.
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
This is a 3000psi cylinder, so you'd not get any full fills, technically.
