Will the Ocean Quest EZ Spring Dive Fin straps work woth the Aqualung Hotshot fins (post configuration)?
I am very short, just under 5 feet and I use the sling shot fins. I have tried many other fins and I feel these give me the best control... but they tire my legs out and I wonder if they are really too long for someone my size. So now I see these hotshot travel fins which are 4" shorter but Im worried my boots wont fit into them. I live in New England and waters cold-I use Henderson H2 7mm No Zip Boot SKU: HNDBH27 Would you be able to tell me if these boots will fit into the hotshot fins? What are the size differences (between a small & regular?) Would sizing up be a good idea? Any info would be great, thanks,
These fins will be smaller and easier to kick, but designed to be worn without boots. The Oceanic Vortex V-8 might be a better choice. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-20/014489/Oceanic-Vortex-V-8-Adjustable-Strap-Dive-Fins.html
I have these fins but they dig holes in the back of my ankles. What are the best socks to avoid abrasion but not cramp the foot pocket? Turns out Duct tape wraps are not a fashion statement.
Hello MJM, when wearing adjustable strap fins. You should wear some type of boot: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear/Boots.html. If you would like to place3 an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
regarding the Hotshot fins: 1. can they really be used comfortably without a boot/sock? 2. where can I find a size chart?
I bought the Hot Shot fins and the recommended spring replacement straps, but cant figure out how to swap them out! It doesnt look like the original heal straps are designed to come off at all!
I have lost one of the blue snaps (or keeper) for the fin strap on my Aqualung Hot Shot fin.Still will hold but on removing the fin the strap occasionally slips off. Can I get a replacement for the snap?
Can an extra pair of straps with snaps be ordered or even special ordered at time of purchase?
We have now added the spare straps to the website we thank you for your feedback: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-113/012400/Aqua-Lung-Spare---Replacement-Hotshot-Fins-Strap.html The straps slide over the fin post so there is no plastic clips to replace.
This amazing fin has been engineered with the traveling diver in mind. It offers:
Compactness for carry-on travel
Power for a fully-outfitted scuba diver
The foot pocket is designed to be worn with bare feet!
The top and sides of the foot pocket are soft against bare skin
Neoprene socks or thin-soled boots may be used for thermal protection
Unique, self-adjusting Comfo-strap is buckle free. This particular type of elastomer guarantees comfort
Mid-foot Flex Joint
The blade attaches to the sides of the foot pocket rather than at the front of the foot pocket.
Prevents hyper-extension of the toes and ankles
Maximizes the transfer of power from the leg to the fin
Compact and Light Weight
Fits in carry-on luggage! Ideal with new Departure bag from Deep See.
Measures only 20.9 in. / 53 cm overall length
Size regular weighs only 3.28 lbs / 1.5 kg
Due to the Mid-Foot Flex Joint, the entire length of blade flexes and provides forward thrust. With a traditional fin, the third of the blade in front of the foot pocket is considered dead space and provides no forward thrust. The result is that the HotShot provides the power of a fin that is 30% longer!
Geared with silicone slings (Power Bands). These pure silicone slings are loaded with energy during the power stroke, which they release prior to the upstroke
Twin-Speed Gear Shift
The silicone Power Bands form the HotShot gear system
The gear shift allows the diver to choose the best speed-to effort ratio
Divers can change gear settings while wearing the fins
The blade is made of a semi rigid customized technopolymer. The result is an excellent spring effect and flexibility to maximize thrust.
The rubberized ribs are made of two different elastomeric compounds to provide the greatest elasticity
Comes in three sizes: small, regular, large/x-large
Anti-slip rubber pads on the bottom of fin keep divers safe on boat decks
Grooves along inside bottom of foot pocket prevent foot from being vacuum-sealed in foot pocket making doffing easy
Power bands are protected on the bottom to prevent contact with the ground
Fin Care and Maintenance
Care Before and During the Dive
Avoid standing your fins on the tips of the blades for any extended period of time.
Avoid hot temperatures and hot surfaces as these can damage the fin.
Avoid placing the fins in a car trunk on hot days as the temperatures inside car trunks can exceed the temperature tolerances of the fin and the blades may distort.
Care After the Dive:
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and towel dry before final storage.
Store in a cool, dry and protected place out of direct sunlight.
Avoid any contact with alcohol, oil, gasoline, aerosols, or chemical solvents.
Do not expose any part to aerosol spray, as some aerosol propellants attack or degrade rubber and plastic materials.
Do not use any type of alcohol, solvent or petroleum based substances to clean or lubricate any part.
Do not store your equipment near any oil, gasoline, chemicals, or solvents.
