Rating: My take on the Vortex V-16
Reviewer: JOHN S.
I just completed 10 dives in the Dominican with my new fins. First time I have ever used a split fin and it took me about 2-3 dives to settle into the different feel. The fins provide plenty of power when I needed it in current but were delicate enough allow for the fine adjustments I need to make when setting up for taking photos. I also found that I felt less leg and knee strain vs a solid fin. The only advice that I would offer is that the foot pocket runs large. I have a size 13 foot and with my XXL Scubapro Delta 3mm low rise boots the fit was a little loose.

  • dominique:

i AM A UK 6.5 SHOE SIZE WITHOUT A BOOT WHAT SIZE WOULD i NEED TO PUCHASE FOR A V16 WARRIOR EDITION FIN.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Dominique, you would not wear this with your bare feet. You would need to order the size range that you wear in your dive boots.

  • dominique:

hi Darrack, I do realise that I need boots, but I am unsure of the usa size compared to the uk.size 7 whether I would need a x/small or small if that makes sense. Thank for your prompt reply. regards, Dominique

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Dominique. when going with a international sizing on feet. I use this chart http://www.dancesport.uk.com/shoes/conchart.htm. That should tell you what size in US you should wear.

  • selby:

I Like the Oceanic Vortex V-16 fins, but I dont like wearing boots for snorkeling. Is there another fin that would be as good or better that can be worn bare foot or should I just get used to wearing boots? Thanks, Selby

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Selby, if you are looking for the same qualities in the fins then I would the full foot version: Oceanic Vortex V-6 Full Foot Dive Fins web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-21/013341/Oceanic-Vortex-V-6-Full-Foot-Fins.html. These fins you can wear bare foot or a thin pair of socks.

  • bob:

I take a 7.5 or a 8 wide us size. What size Vortex V-16 with spring traps should I order? I plan on using a 2 or 3 mm boot with them. thanks Bob

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Order according to your shoe size, if you are in between sizes go up to the next closest size. The only way to fit for a wider foot is to go up a size.
