I drift dive off the East Coast of Florida a good bit, and sometime have need to swim against the current. I had some split fins, and they just did not move me well. The Gorilla Novas do... they are stiff, and take some getting used to but are great fins. The are also smaller than the splits I had, and fit in my bag better. They are very easy to put on and remove in the water too. Highly recommended! The regular Novas are not as stiff, but still do a great job also. My girlfriend picked up a pair of Novas after diving with me.

I just used it my last dive trip In Hawaii. It is really good in current. I used split fins before and had difficulty in keeping up with my buddy in strong current. With Seawig Nova, I had no problem in current. I give only 4 star now because I do not know the durability in long term use.

Questions and Answers for ScubaPro Seawing Gorilla Adjustable Bungee Strap Dive Fins:

  • Joonbum:

I saw the price of these fins were 99.9$ in your website yesterday, but now the price became double! What happened to those fins?

    Greg  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Our site is based on a dynamic IP that allows it to automatically compete with local retailers in other regions around the country. If a retailer local to the computer you are using is offering a price lower than our normal pricing our site will adjust automatically in that area only to remain competitive in that area. Other regions of the country not competing with another local retailer will see our normal prices which are typically the minimum price allowed by the manufacturers for an authorized dealer. This means it’s entirely possible for you to search from one computer and see a price then search again from another location such as home or work and find a completely different price.

  • erika:

the smallest size seawing nova fins are still too big for my size 6 womens feet. what boots do you have that are the thickest to help fill in the foot pocket better? ...or do you have an adjuster or another suggestion?

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

You'd want to look at any manufacturer's 6.5mm or 7mm Hard Sole or Heavy Duty Sole boots. That would take the most space up inside your fins.

  • tammy:

are there replacement straps available for these fins

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Tammy, here is the link: to the replacement straps. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • irianto:

What a different seawing nova fin and seawing nova gorilla??look like same product...

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Irianto, the gorilla, are a closeout item limited to stock on hand. This is a discontinued fin no longer made. The newer design fin is the SeaWing Nova. If you would like to place an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • Rodger:

I wear a size 7 EEE Mens what size fin should I order

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

According to the manufacturer you''d go with the Small (6-8) size fin. If wearing a thicker boot, I''d personally consider the next size up.

  • Javier:

Can the bungee system be changed for a metal spring one? Are you planning on offering it in orange color?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Javier, yes you can get spring straps for this fins. Also when it comes to the Orange color that would be a special order item and the Orange color is only for instructors.

  • Javier:

Which spring straps should be ordered for the Seawing Novas?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

You wouldn''t need them. They come with bungee straps.

  • Maryann:

hi, i want to buy scubapro seawing gorilla. i wear a womens size 9 1/2 shoe, medium width and narrower heel. my husband has the seawing original model not gorilla and his size medium fits fine with my boots. on the original chart, a medium is recommended for up to a womans size 10. on the gorilla chart, a medium is only recommended up to a womans size 8, and it is recommended i order a large. is this correct, or is there a mistake in the chart? going diving in a week so quick answer appreciated.

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

The sizing is correct. Different fins have different sizing so a Large is correct.

  • Sean:

How do these compare in performance for snorkeling and spear fishing compared to the Oceanic V-16 dive fins? How about to the swim fins Oceanic V-6 or Mares Volo Race? These sound like truly exceptional fins but I dont wish to waste money!

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

The scuba pro fins and the volo's would work best for snorkeling and spear fishing due to their length.

  • Don:

Are Scubapro Seawing Nova Gorilla fins neutral bouyant, positive bouyant, or negative bouyant?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello, these fins are slightly negative.

  • corey:

I own these fins for 2 years, and have noticed that they are very stiff, and cause fatigue snorkeling. Should I change to oceanic viper fins? also I prefer boots for walking across rocky beaches, or would full booted fins be better for negative buoyancy. Thanks, Corey

    Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hi Corey, The vipers are a softer kicking fin. They are still negative, with boots on you will be about neutral.

  • Rich:

Can a giant step entry be a problem with this fin?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Rich, the fin length is 29" sop no you should not have a issue doing a giant stride into the water off a boat or a platform.

  • Brian:

I have a set of orange SCUBA Pro gorilla fins. Both find have cracked on me while diving. I am looking for the return process to have the orange find replaced. Please advise Thank you Brian Perry

The successor to the famous SCUBAPRO Gorilla fins of the 1980s, this new version of the award-winning Seawing Nova has been fine-tuned to provide a slight increase in stiffness and snap. They give you more power, more speed and even better frog-kick-ability while at the same time ensuring they still offer the legendary comfort and efficiency of Seawings! The GORILLAs are ideal for those diving in demanding conditions!

  • The articulated joint allows the blade to pivot and the entire blade is able to generate thrust. Pivot control technology ensures the most efficient  angle of attack is maintained no matter how hard or softly you kick, generating thrust without drag or wasted energy.
  • Clean water blade geometry for optimum propulsion. Water is free to flow onto the working section of the blade, drag is reduced and thrust increased.
  • Variable pivot control ribs insures that the most efficient angle of attack is maintained across all strengths of kick.
  • Ergonomic foot pocket with extended heel plate insuring ultimate power transmission with less leg strain.
  • Durable Monprene® construction making SeaWing virtually indestructible.
  • Wing tips arc upwards, increasing high-speed  stability.
  • Marine quality bungee heel strap with custom adjustment system for total comfort and convenience.
