My husband and I both ordered these fins...both pairs were at least a size too large. The sizing chart is not even close! I would suggest buying a size smaller...I wear a womens 8 and ordered the small (smallest they had) so I had no option but return them. The fins seemed fine otherwise...we did not get in the water with them.

Rating: Powerful Fins
Reviewer: Michael Guerrero
I was looking for fins that would provide me with plenty of power when I need it, and split fins just wont do that. I dont get fatigued using these fins, but take my fitness seriously so may not be the same for the typical diver. If you want more powerful and more rigid fins to get you through or out of currents these are great for the money.

Rating: Nice Fins

Have worn these fins for 15 dives and am very satisfied with them. They are comfortable and seem very efficient in the water. The straps are easy to slip over the heal and tighten in the water or on the boat.

Rating: Great Fins
Reviewer: Joe C.
I really like diving in these fins. They are comfortable and the membranes allow the fins to cup which make them easier on your legs, calves and feet. As an older diver this is important to me. They are open heel style witch I like best. The quality is very good for the price. I plan to buy a pair for my wife when she recovers from her knee surgery.

These are the first fins I ever bought - 12 YEARS AGO & some 650 dives! They are so good that I just bought a replacement pair. Quality made (obviously after 12 years), good stroke for finning.

good fin and excellent buckle system. I personally dont like big paddle fins and bought these as backups. I usually use Force fins and these feel a lot different. Those folks who like a big paddle fin will love these. I compared them to the superchannel Mares fins and find these stiffer. I am considering cutting out the central rubber gusset to make a pair of "splits " out of them. As they are now , they are too stiff and "draggy" in the water for my current preference.

Questions and Answers for Mares Plana Avanti X3 Fins:

  • Sandy:

Hi, I bought a pair of size Small 7-8 Tusa Imprex Tri-Ex fins and they were too large and heavy. They actually fell off my feet during a dive. Im looking for a fin that fits a narrow size 6 foot. Would Mares Plana Avanti X3 in XS be appropriate? If not, please recommend a reasonably priced fin for small feet. Thanks, Sandy

410001 - Mares Plana Avanti X3

Function and exceptional comfort

• Three channel blade
• High quality at reasonable cost
• XS size available

The perfect combination of comfort and power for recreational divers and snorkelers.

The mid-sized blade has three channels for optimal movement of water during the kicking cycle. Ideal for travel and available in XS providing the perfect fi n for both women and young divers too.

Product Features

Channel Thrust: Soft longitudinal inserts allow a controlled deformation of the fin blade while kicking. This channel shape moves a greater amount of water resulting in more thrust for the same effort. Mares design is inspired by marine mammals.

Latest development in Channel Thrust is the Superchannel. The blade is designed with a large flexible central Superchannel propelling water-flow more effi ciently down the fin blade instead of letting it spill over the sides for optimal performance and minimal diver effort. The limiting factors in traditional open heel foot pockets are their weight and the “parachute effect”. When finning, water gets into the space between the bootie and the foot pocket, creating drag like the air in a parachute. The perforations prevent this and have the additional benefit of making the foot pocket very soft and flexible.

Furthermore, the suction effect which can make doffing of the fins cumbersome, is now forever a thing of the past.
