Low 3mm boots should be okay, right? I wear about 11-11.5 shoe,etc. Should I get the mens 11-13 size? I currently have Ez Spring fin straps with my old fins, will they work on these? Will other fins straps work besides the ones offered as an option? Thanks for your help?
Hello Dennis, yes wearing a warm water boot will work with these fins in size 11-13. Mares design on there post to hold the strap is a different type of post so only there spring straps will fit on there fin. If I wear a size 11 boot, should I go with a 9 - 11 or 11 - 13 size. I am thinking 11 - 13 for a better fit.
Mares is known for having a generous foot pocket. More so than most manufacturers. Where will you be using the fin most and what thickness and type of bootie you use will determine the correct fin size. If you are in cold water using a 5mm with a hard or thicker sole or any 7mm boot I''d use the larger size. If you are using a 5mm with a medium sole down to a 3mm boot I''d go with the smaller size.
I wear a size 7 and with this type of fin can I also wear boots? I have used other types of fins and my legs cramp, can this particular fin ease that? Thnks.

Channel Thrust: Soft longitudinal inserts allow a controlled deformation of the fin blade while kicking. This channel shape moves a greater amount of water resulting in more thrust for the same effort. Mares design is inspired by marine mammals.
Latest development in Channel Thrust is the Superchannel. The blade is designed with a large flexible central Superchannel propelling water-flow more effi ciently down the fin blade instead of letting it spill over the sides for optimal performance and minimal diver effort. The limiting factors in traditional open heel foot pockets are their weight and the “parachute effect”. When finning, water gets into the space between the bootie and the foot pocket, creating drag like the air in a parachute. The perforations prevent this and have the additional benefit of making the foot pocket very soft and flexible. Furthermore, the suction effect which can make doffing of the fins cumbersome, is now forever a thing of the past.
OPB - Optimized Pivoting Blade: Allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle. OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water.
Riddled Foot Pocket: The perforations prevent stagnating water flow from slowing you down. Eliminating this “parachute effect” you’ll slide faster through the water. Furthermore the openings eliminate any suction effect, making doffing easier.
ABS Plus Buckles: These unique, patented buckles are the most simple and easy to use buckles available in the market. It only takes one quick movement to easily open or close the buckle, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckle from accidentally opening.
Open Heel Foot Pockets: The open heel foot pocket is designed to accommodate dive boots with a sole, and to offer excellent adherence between the boot and the foot pocket in order to transfer all the force exerted by the leg to the blade, without sacrificing yield yet still ensuring superior comfort. The lower section of the foot pocket is longer, in order to better transfer power to the blade and minimize the risk of cramping. In addition, the inside of the foot-pocket features internal ribbing to improve fit and stiffen the sole.
