Questions and Answers for ScubaPro Equator BC for 2014:

  • Doug:

New to diving, starting to travel I am 57" 185# want comfortable but not cheap BC this is the last piece of equipment I need to purchase. What is the air balance feature that costs more . Also how does this compare to Aqualung brand.

Hello Doug, not sure what you mean by the air balance feature. If you are asking about the up-grade item is the Airwave Plus in-line octo. That octo will replace your power inflator and make the octo in-lined with your power inflator. They rate the same as AquaLung, both manufacture make great quality gear.

  • John:

I am looking at Travel BCs, I am wondering about the differences between the ScubaPro Equator and the ScubaPro Go Travel. Does the Equator have a smaller hard backplate ? Other than $200.00 what are the other differences, thanks John

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello John, if you are looking for a light weight travel BCD then go with the Go Travel. The Equator is a heavier BCD (hard back plate) larger weight capacity and large bladder. So if you are looking for a travel BCD I would go with the Go Travel.

  • Perfect for circling the world wherever your dive adventures lead.
  • The Equator is clean and lean: lightweight design is perfect for traveling, whether diving in exotic tropical warm waters or in northerly cold seas or lakes.
  • Comfort and performance are assured when wearing the Equator BC with a rash guard in the warm waters of the Caribbean or with a dry suit in the Artic Ocean off the Svalbard Islands.
  • Front Adjustable design with rotating quick-release shoulder buckles: allows for variations of fit, regardless of the thickness of your wet/dry suit and the adjustable feature also gives you a custom fit feeling.
  • The buckles make this BC quick and easy to put on and take off.
  • Smaller back-pack allows BC to fold easily into a travel bag.
  • This feature is imperative for a traveling diver combating limited space and weight constrictions imposed by most airlines today.
  • Proprietary quick-release integrated weight system offers more comfort and convenience.
  • This system replaces the traditional weight belt, using integrated weight pockets.
  • Soft neoprene neck trim and padded backpack for optimal comfort.
  • Soft, quality padding makes a difference.
  • 5-point deflation system with 3 dump valves
  • Fully adjustable cummerbund ensures proper fit and security.
  • Zippered cargo pockets for all your accessories, plus convenient metal D-rings to hang your most needed items close at hand.
  • Delivered standard with the Balanced Power Inflator and medium pressure hose.
