Questions and Answers for Mares Hybrid AT with MRS Plus Weight System:

  • Sebastián:

Hi, I have a question... I want just the mares hybrid AT, without MRS PLUS, is it possible? Regards

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

  • Denis:

Can and how do you orally in flate this BCD in an out of air situation?

    Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

There is a small manual inflate tube tucked away on the shoulder area.

  • Tyler:

Do you recommend this to a starter diver?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

This is a great BC. The problem with this is that it doesn't have a corrugated hose for inflation/deflation. This is what 98% of bc's are out there. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this to a beginner.

  • Jean:

how much does this bcd weigh? thank you

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

    Approximately 10 pounds.

  • Kim:

    1. I found the sizing in other website such as small, medium , large for this product. In this websire sizing is different as small/small, medium/large. I am 172cm, 70kg, waist 31". So I am looking for small. What do I need to buy? 2. I would like to know difference between Hybrid AT and Dragon AT. 3. In the comment above diving instructor mentioned that she would not recommned this to beginner. So doe it mean that Mares Hybrid is better for beginner instead of Hybrid AT? Please adivise.

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

We list the sizing exactly the way the manufacturer lists the sizing. Small would be the correct size for you. The differences are in the name, in a way. The Hybrid is what the manufacturers call a Hybrid bcd. This means it is a cross between a back inflation and a jacket style bcd with much less of the air cell wrapping around the torso than a jacket style bcd. The dragon is a traditional jacket-style bcd.

Hybrid AT

Beyond innovation

• Airtrim for fast and intuitive buoyancy control
• Foldable backpack and suspension system
• New ultraflat pneumatic valves

All the features of the Ergo version are now available in the Airtrim version too. The patented Mares system on the pneumatic valves makes it possible to inflate and deflate the BCD, no matter what your position in the water is. The shoulder
straps have no stitching and there is special padding on the backpack in the lumbar area. Integrated trim weights and MRS Plus weight
