looking seriously at purchasing the axiom, but without the i3. do you carry this version in a medium and the axioms were just recalled for a drowning hazard. are you carrying d versions? ive done quite a bit of business with you guys and you havent steered me wrong yet. thanks, mark
Hello Mark, the BCD you are looking for is the Aqua Lung SeaQuest Axiom i3 BC web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-2/006870/Aqua-Lung-SeaQuest-Axiom-i3-Scuba-BC.html. But this is a jacket version were the I3 is a back inflate BC. If you are looking for the back inflate version they you are looking at Aqua Lung SeaQuest Balance BC web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-3/006895/Aqua-Lung-SeaQuest-Balance-Scuba-BC.html.
Im about a 32" waist, and measure in at around 62 in height. I cant pick out my size from the sizing chart. Which would you recommend?
When selecting a bcd from the manufacturers sizing chart the waist size will always be the most important dimension. After that height is secondary and usually nothing to be concerned about unless you are a great deal outside the range (12" or more outside) You'd be a size small in this item.
Please I have a question again, I wish to know the difference between a back inflationary BC and a jacket type BC and I want to know if they are used based on the kind of job or if both can do the same work because am going into inspection jobs now so I will want to know the best BC suitable for my job because I work mostly on sbm or spm subsea hose inspection and sometimes pipeline inspection and I have not used BC before expect during my dive training,so please I need your professional advice on type and product thats good for the kind of my job and the octos to fit it bcos I use KB 37 helment with surface demand air supply . Thanks as I hope to hear from you soon.
what type of Ideations Surface & Underwater Air Horn Dive Alert Plus V.2 will work with the Aqua Lung SeaQuest Axiom i3 BC
Can an Air2 from scuba pro be used with this BC?
Hello Victor, no the ScubaPro unit will not work for this BCD. You would need to order either the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 or the Atomic SS1 Octo web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-33/035069/Atomic-SS1-Scuba-Octo.html.
heloo. i want to bau this bcd but without the i3 system / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKqfMQlH9Qw you have the same bcd without this system like in the video?

I know the womans version is the Soul i3, however, if I was a size M/L in the Soul, what would I be in the Axiom? Thank you.
Hi, I have been using a Mares Dragon BCD but find that at the surface I am struggling to keep my face out of the water and am continually rolling around and very unstable. Which BCD would you recommend for me to give me good surface stability, cost is not and issue. I have been told that Sherwood Avid is probably the best as it is not just back inflation. Recommendations please. Many Thanks
The Sherwood Avis is on of the best jacket style bcd''s on the market. Any Jacket Style BCD will do this for you. But, as a Course Director and since you do have an extremely nice bcd already, I do need to add this: Remember from your class that proper buoyancy at the surface is chin to eye level at the surface. This in mind, your face is already in the water and the bcd cannot push your face into the water. What happens here is divers will try to emulate the really bad habits their instructor displays on the surface and inflate their bcd until they are neck to shoulder high out of the water. They do this to speak to the class on the surface but very few of them actually explain why it''s wrong and the proper way to maintain surface buoyancy. The Dragon is a Jacket/Hybrid bcd as well. It is not going to offer a great deal different stability at the surface than the Avid. One thing that makes me wonder, besides the fact that it sounds overinflated at the surface is that it sounds like there might be a fit issue on the bcd you currently are using.
I am 5 10" 170lbs what size do you recommend waist is 34" How do the sizes run ? I also just want to confirm this is a jacket style well maybe almost a hybrid style. What is the model for this in a womans version.
What is the female version of this BCD ? I am a new diver and plan to dive both local waters and tropical waters will this BCD be appropriate for both conditions ?
The Axiom i3 is our most comfortable and easy-to-use BC yet. It is a feature-rich, ADV style, wrap-around jacket that incorporates the innovative i3 inflation/deflation system (patented). The integrated Wrapture™ harness system (pat. pend.) allows you to stand up straight in total comfort while the cylinder remains perfectly vertical and pulled in close. Diving has never been this comfortable.
The Axiom i3 is a feature-rich, jacket style BC that incorporates Aqua Lung’s patented i3 inflation / deflation system. Its amazing comfort and stability come from the integrated Wrapture™ Harness System. The Axiom is made from durable, fade-resistant materials and comes in a black/navy blue/gray color combination. Integrated weights are held securely in place with SureLock II mechanical weight system and the cylinder is secured with the GripLock™ tank band.
The GripLock™ tank band and buckle system makes its debut on the Axiom i3. This strong, secure system makes attachment to a cylinder easier than ever before. Gone are the days of complicated web weaving and you don't have to worry about pinching your fingers with the innovative finger saver feature (pat. pend.)
Wrapture Harness System (pat. pend.) – Using patented swivel shoulder buckles and a proprietary, ultra-thin back plate, the Wrapture provides unsurpassed comfort and stability. Wrapture prevents the BC from “riding-up” on the surface. Out of the water, the Wrapture keeps the cylinder close to your center of gravity and transfers the weight to your hips. The result is the ability to stand up straight with a cylinder that is perfectly vertical
i3 Control System (patented) – provides easy, one-touch control for inflation and deflation. Eliminates the traditional inflator that dangles at the end of a corrugated hose. i3 is simple and intuitive - just lift up on the lever to inflate and push down on the same lever to dump air. What’s more, when you push the lever down, all the dumps, upper and lower, open at the same time!
SureLock II Mechanical Weight Release System (patented) – provides a safe, single-pull release. Inserting weight is as simple as insert and “click”. With SureLock, your weights are secure in the BC. Once engaged, the only way to release the weight is to pull on the handle
The GripLock™ Tank Band is a strong, secure way to attach the cylinder to the BC. Gone are the days of complicated web weaving through multi-slot buckles. Predetermined détente settings make set-up simple. No adjustments are necessary when switching cylinders of the same diameter. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about pinching your fingers with GripLock’s innovative finger saver feature (pat. pend.)
The pull down oral inflator is easy to deploy, use and stow.
A bladder retraction system is used to pull in the sides of the bladder during deflation. This keeps unit streamlined and reduces drag.
An adjustable chest strap can be raised or lowered on a rail system. This not only ensures a good fit but also keeps strap from running across top of a drysuit valve.
A scooped octo-pocket on the top, front of the right lobe makes it easy to stow and deploy an octopus. The octopus remains visible and accessible throughout the dive.
Some divers may find it useful to run their instruments behind the left pocket and out the scooped opening on the top, front of the lobe.
Pocket within a pocket – A small security pocket is found on the flap of a larger drop-down pocket
Knife attachment points are found on the left lobe which will accommodate many of the Aqua Lung knives. This location provides easy access to the knife.
Features 5 stainless steel D-rings and 2 plastic D-rings for all of your accessories.
Right shoulder pull dump provides an additional dumping option.
Rolled neck collar for comfort
