Im a new diver and have rented several bcs and ended up buying this one. Ive used it on 15 dives since buying it and havent had a problem. The weight pockets are a good buy with it and they are easy to use.

Rating: Very Good for First timer

BCD is working well. Im what you say a larger guy 270lbs and XL fits fine. I Have had a couple dives so far with no problems. Intergrated weight pockets work well just make sure they are clicked into place. Coundnt give it a five star as I dont have much to campare it too as Im just beginning my dive life.

Rating: Good Quality BC
Reviewer: Jack Fessenden
I purchased this as a BC for my non Tech diving activities and for class/pool activities, I have found it to be durable enough for all of the activities that I am involved in with my D.M. course and recreational dives. Everything is within reach and easy to manipulate. Definately recommend.

Rating: Great BC for the money!
Reviewer: Willis Chung  -  View all my reviews
Both my son (13) and I own this BC and we find it comfortable and easy to use. The floatation is more than adequate, and it is comfortable to put on and remove. A few niggling points. The integrated weight pockets can fall out of their sleeves if you have too much weight in them (6 pounds is OK, 8 pounds is not), so if you have more than 12 pounds, put the extra weight into the velcro pockets on the side. The strap to hold the tank on needs to get "broken in" to the right length to hold tanks, so be careful the first couple of times you go out. The tank will have the tendency to slip out until the strap gets streched out and develops a bend in the place where it wraps over the buckle.

Rating: call with measurements
Reviewer: jenny k.  -  View all my reviews
I bought the XL based on my exact measurements, but would have been able to wear a L because all the straps are adjustable. It might have been a better idea for me to have called a rep with my measurements and let them help me. I did however LOVE the quick release weight pockets. They seemed to displace the weight better than the belts that were all familiar with.

Rating: Good Starter BC
Reviewer: Nathan McDaniel  -  View all my reviews
It is a good starter or if you only dive a couple of weeks out of the year. It tended to get a lot of water inside it. I checked all the seals and couldnt figure out why. Good buy and it performed well. I would buy it again.

Questions and Answers for Oceanic OceanPro QLR3 1000D BCD:

  • Mark:

I like the looks of this BC but I see that it only has a 20 lb releasable weight limit but no mention of upper or back pockets for non releasable weight. I dive with 26 lbs and wanted to know if there was any standard weight pockets or how else to overcome the weight difference. Thanks! Mark

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mark, yes this BCD will only hold 20 lbs. in the front 2 (10 lbs per) pocket. If you are looking to add a few pockets in the back along the tank strap: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-225/044049/XS-Scuba-Trim-Diving-Weight-Tank-Pouch.html. This would hold up to an extra 5 lbs (per pocket). If you would like to place an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • William:

The oceanic oceanpro bc, My question is it does not mention or show in the picture if this bc has a bottom dump valve, also what is its max lifting capacity Thanks, William

Greg  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The Oceanpro 1000D has two dump valves, one on the right shoulder and a front pull rear dump. The max lift is based on the size of the BCD: XS has a max lift of 9 liters SM has a max lift of 12 liters Med has a max lift of 15 liters ML has a max lift of 16 liters Large has a max lift of 19 liters XLarge has a max lift of 22 liters

Designed to withstand the daily rigors of rental and training departments
• Durable 500 denier fadeless nylon construction

• Integrated backpack with carrying handle
• Easy to adjust quick release shoulder adjustments
• Strategically placed plastic d-ring attachment points

Patented QLR (Quick Lock & Release) Weight Integration System
The OceanPro may be purchased with or without Oceanic's patented QLR Quick Lock & Release System. If you choose not to buy them with your BC, you will have 2 additional storage pockets and may add the QLR Weight Pockets at any time. Your weights stay in position throughout the dive and do not shift around affecting buoyancy or position in the water. The weight pouches are simple to load and easy to release. Best of all, our patented 'positive-lock' system helps to ensure that they'll stay put.

Fadeless 500 Denier Ballistic Nylon Construction
The OceanPro air cell is welded from a fadeless 500 denier nylon. Exterior abrasion points are covered in our fadeless 1600 denier ballistic nylon - tough stuff that will hold up to years of extreme diving and keep that 'new look' longer.

Alliance Integrated Inflator
Ergonomically designed to be functional and easy to use in any dive position, the Alliance Integrated Inflator provides a full range of airway exhaust/inflation control. Simply press a button to produce precise flow for trimming dive attitude or maximum flow for major changes in buoyancy. A large exhaust valve creates a flow rate higher than the inflation rate of the power inflator, improving diver control during ascents.

Adjustable Cummerbund
Oceanic's cummerbund offers up to 8' of adjustment to fit a wide range of sizes. For additional customization, the cummerbund may be easily changed with another size.

Padded Backpack
Extra heavy duty padding provides comfort both above and below the surface without having to sacrifice the stability of a hard backpack.

2 Large Main Pockets
Enough room to store your OceanPro Light, extra Shadow Mask, Pocket Snorkel, or P.S.D.!
