Questions and Answers for Oceanic OCi Hoseless Computer Watch with Digital Compass:

  • David:

Can you use the OCi in metric ie not just a conversion, but stops etc in whole rounded Numbers? Eg safety stop at 5m rather than 4.57m for 15 ft. Does the OCi display mins and seconds for stop times? Lastly, can you change gases during a dive Thanks. Like others I am trying to decide vs D6i

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Yes, and yes. It will read in metric and offers up to 4 gas mixtures.

  • Jeremy:

i got the the geo 2.0 i want to to one with a transmitter. what would yall reckmind i cant spell it to get. i use my geo as a watch two. i like the oci cause of the compass can u wear as a everyday watch as well

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The OCi is a very good choice for the functions you describe. It is small enough to use as a watch. For info on other products please contact our instructors at 800-34SCUBA or at info@scuba.com

  • Val:

Since this computer will receive from 4 transmitters, can it be used to monitor my dive buddy if he is also using an OCi?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It can monitor your dive buddy if he has a TRANSMITTER from an OCi connected to his regulator's first stage.

  • Dave:

    Is this in stock? Thanks...

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

As this is an ongoing data base, for information on inventory and availability, please contact our instructors at info@scuba.com

  • Luis:

how big is the diameter of the computer, meaning how big is the screen?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Luis, you are looking at 2.5" dia display.

  • brittany:

I am looking for input on a new computer. I have it narrowed down to the Oceanic OCI and Suunto D6i and would like some input on which computer to purchase. What are the primary differences between the two from a functionality standpoint? From what I have seen it appears as though the OCi may offer the best bang for the buck. Please advise.

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The Oceanic will have the ability to change the decompression model to adjust how conservative the computer is. It also can monitor up to 4 different transmitters.

  • rs:

Oceanic has a promotion for Oci with free cable and trasmitter, when buying one Oci in a dealer. This product OCi in your site is elligible for that promotion ? Tks ! Nice site !

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello RS, yes if you order this computer you will get the free transmitter when you buy the computer. This is a limited time only offer so if you are going to buy this computer with the free transmitter then you should act quickly.

  • Brent:

How long is battery life? Is it rechargeable? If not rechargeable, can owner replace battery? 3-d compass?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

This has a user changeable battery, typically 300 dives before replacement. It does have digital compass.

  • Ed:

Is the digital compass on this computer "full tilt" or "tilt compensated" ? Is one type considered better than the other?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Unfortunately none of the information provided to retailers touches on this information. Your question might be better answered by contacting the technical support people at Oceanic directly.

  • Michael:

Ive been looking towards going to air integrated and have been looking at new computers. Ive been looking at the Vyper Air, Oceanic OCi, and Oceanic Atom 3.1... Just as an personal opinion which would be your preference? Ive been leaning towards the Oci and now more so since its on sale. Thanks

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Michael, I have the Atom watch and I love it. The OCi is more diver friendly then the Atom. But both computers will do the same thing when you are on your dive.

  • Ryan:

From people who have diving with air integrated for a while, how reliable is it? Im having a hard time thinking about leaving the typical hose spg set up just because its pretty much fool proof and always reliable.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The current hoseless technology is more reliable than its ever been. It is extremely rare that we ever hear of issues concerning hooking up between xmitter and receiver.

  • John:

I have an aeris epic / w wireless transmitter I want to upgrade to the oci can I monitor any transmitter or dose it have to be an oceanic transmitter.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello John, Aeris, Oceanic, and Hollis transmitter will work with each other so yes the transmitter you have will currently work with the Oceanic OCi computer.

The "i" stands for Incredible.

Introducing the OCi. For the diver that wants it all. We mean that literally. The OCi represents the next step forward in recreational wireless air-integrated dive computers from Oceanic. We’ve combined the technology of our advanced OC1, the styling of our best selling OCS and some new features into one incredibly capable dive computer. Not only is the OCi powered by our ground breaking Dual Algorithm technology but it can handle up to 4 gases, calculate nitrogen during a freedive (in the new tech free mode), enable you to select between salt or fresh water and it even automatically adjusts your altitude. The customizable alarms and digital compass are just icing on the cake. Oh and let’s not forget that it functions pretty well as a watch too. Feature for feature the OCi has no competition.

Available in 5 distinct colors: Black/Red, Black/Yellow, Black/Titanium, Black/Blue and White.
