Just got back from Cayman Brac. Purchsed the Aeris Manta shortly before a left. Used it the whole week and it worked great. Did the on-line training to set it up and learn how it worked. Very easy to understand and operate....and the price was right. Highly recommened.

This computer is amazing, plus the price is right. It is great underwater, tells me what I need to know. Has the option to be conservative or not, and can be set to your specifications if you want to personalize it. The computer is very durable, it is thrown around all over the boat, in my bag, in the sand and still looks brad new. I recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a dive computer, its just an added bonus that it is inexpensive.

I bought this because I wanted a dive computer that I could wear as a watch during dive vacations. The Manta is slightly larger than a regular watch, but still small enough to wear every day on a week long trip. I replaced the standard band with a velcro sport band. The standard band, with its extra length extender, adds potential failure points. It took a little while to get used to navigating through the screens and set up options, but once familiar, it was pretty easy going. INstructions were clear and easy to follow. I like how easy the unit is to read underwater and the integrated light, especially for night diving. I did get a low battery warning the second day I used the unit. I found out later that false battery low indicators can be somewhat common with this unit. The error cleared itself and didnt return. I always have spare batteries in my dive kit anyway, and the battery is easily changed by the user when needed. I dont like that the watch doesnt give average depth unless you send your dive data to your pc. I also dont like that you cant go backwards in screens/dives when reviewing the dive log. If you accidentally pass the screen you want, you have to go all the way around or exit the log and get back in, which can be quite a few button pushes if the 24 dive on board log is full. These are pretty minor gripes, though. For the price of the Manta, its hard to find a full function nitrox computer that also works as a watch. I considered the Suuto, but I didnt like how conservative the algorythms are, the Aeris fits my style of diving better. So, overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this computer to others. There are deals to be had since the cosmetics have recently been changed (along with its sister computer, the Oceanic Geo,) so if you dont need the newest styling, consider looking for an old model at a good discount.

Shipment arrived as planned from Scuba.com. I bought two of this computers for our planned trip in Oct. The computers come in "sleep" mode from the factory which causes the batteries to last for "7 years." I decided not to wake them up yet...

The Aeris Manta computer was easy to use. I entered any changes in the default settings on my laptop and transfered the information to the dive computer with the sync cable. The watch is small enough to be used as a regular watch during a week of diving. I doubt I will ever do free diving, but thats my loss. As for this item, I recommend it.

can you set this watch to a certain gas mix and not have it go back to default? In other words can you set it to a gas blend and have it stay there until you reset it? thanks, bob

No. The computer is designed to always default to air.

Unfortunately no. The computer is interchangeable from metric to imperial, but is listed in english only.

What capability does the dive download kit add? Is it just record-keeping for a series of dives or ???

It does not add any exra capability to the computer. It is simply a dive log book that is downloadable to your computer.
