Well, I originally bought the 860G, only to find out it had a shutter speed of 2 seconds, so I upgraded to the 8000G and am quite happy with it. I have only tried on land but will be in Fiji soon and expect it to meet all my expectations. It has aan incredible number of possible settings and with the wide angle lens and a macro of 1 cm, it would be hard to do any better. It doesnt come with a rechargable battery, but you can purchase it seperately and its worht doing as it can give you more battery time.

Great package... camera is easy to use and takes wonderful shots... The videoa come out excellent and the macro is incredible. The flash works great.. I am really glad I bought package..I have not had any problem with the underwater housing though it does take some patience and rocking back and forth to get the camera out. Its a shame the camera will not format a 2 gig flash card.

I found the DX-8000G to be simple and enjoyable to use. The pictures of my last trip to Hawaii were crystal clear and bright. With virtually no shutter lag I didnt wind up with any "half a fish" images that Id experienced with other digital cameras Ive tried.
