Reviewer: Mark Criasia,
Only settle for the best. I borrowed one these metal detectors from a friend. It was 6X J.W. Fishers. After one dive I was hooked. I began shopping around and after comparing the benefits and warranties. I settled for the J. W. Fishers Pulse 8X. It works great and is well balanced underwater. The battery charge lasts well into 5 dives. The display is easy to read and the underwater earphone is comfortable. A great divers tool for exploration. Scuba.com had the BEST pricing for this unit.

I have several metal detectors including 2 pulse 8x detectors. They are the ones that I use the most as they are more versitile, I can take it in the water, in sandy soil, clay and even rocky ground, it pentrates deeper than any other detecors that I own. It is a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. If you are a serious detector and want ot find the good stuff you need this machine.

Theres no question about it:
JW Fisher makes the best handheld underwater metal detector on the planet!
The Pulse 8X packs a whole lot of American ingenuity into a rugged package thats ergonomically-designed to fit in the palm of your hand.
I used the same detector years ago to locate an early 18th century French Frigate in the Caribbean, and, that experience made a believer out of me!

I was looking for a not too expensive metal detector, but after reviewing quite a few models, Im glad I spent the extra money on the Fishers. It comes with everything youd need and works excellent. Well worth the extra cost.

Does anybody know what the sample delay is on the pulse 8 Ive heard JW fishers wont answer this question. If it as long as 20 u/s or more, There is good chance of missing small gold chains and rings. Thank You

Unfortunately it's not in any of the information we see on them from the manufacturer.
Charlotte:
This package appears to be much cheaper than purchasing directly from the dealer or your competitors, what coil does it come with and is the package comparable to what JW Fishers are offering?
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
We are authorized dealers for JW Fisher and this unit comes with the full manufacturer warranty. This is the standard Pulse 8x Metal detector. Coil is the 8x which is about 7.5" and is an upgrade from the 6X unit.
