I use these on a few things and theyre great. Take these on lots of dives, never had any problems, good for lightweight stuff like small lights and compasses. Pretty solid. Tacos are also good, but I cant take them diving.

I like this retractor for small, relatively light objects (whistle, small dive slate). I think however, that the clip should be slightly larger and the cable should be heavier with stronger retraction to accommodate regulator air hoses.

This is the best of many I have used. Spring is nice and strong, plus the option of using the screw rather than the clip to attach it make it the best one I have had.

The product works fine. It is larger than what I wanted. It has plenty of strength, I did not have to worry about any thing dragging while using it. I can see how people can get smacked by what the product is holding by just letting go

Nice idea but i found that the clip was too small for any of the D rings on my BC. I have a pretty common BC - Oceanic. Cant believe the designer of this clip didnt do a little homework to make sure the clip would fit over the rings with enough room to snap shut.

One of the most important things is to care about the environment, this helps a lot to control the equipment.

The price seems a little high. Other than that it performs as promised.

Questions and Answers for XS Scuba Xscerrory Mini Retractor Clip:

  • Phyllis:

Will the XS Scuba Mini Retractor clip be strong enough for my Oceanic Max Depth Console? -Or is there a better option to attach to my D ring? Thanks.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Phyllis, the retractor that I would suggest for you is the http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-129/131170/XS-Scuba-Flashlight-Camera-Retractor.html. This retractor is designed to hold heavier items like a console or camera.

  • Nancy:

Im looking for a small retractor, mostly to use for a magnifying glass and possibly for a dive light. Could you please tell me what the dimensions of this retractor is? Im considering this or the Akona Mini Dive Retractor. Which would you suggest and why. Thanks very much for your help.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The main body is about 1" x 1". If you are going to use it for a light you are going to want a locking retractor because of the weight. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-129/131170/XS-Scuba-Flashlight-Camera-Retractor.html
