Rating: Large but strong retractor
Reviewer: Eric Jorgensen, Wednesday, September 05, 2007 - View all my reviews
I bought this retractor after having wasted my money on two other ones that were not capable of holding my computer off the ground while walking to the water. This one is definitely stronger than most and works well. With my Aeris ai (air integrated computer with compass module) the computer hangs with about 1/2" of line extended out from the base of the retractor. Previously the computer would hang on about 6" of line and swing around. It is strong enough to do the job but not so strong as to be an annoyance. My only complaint is that I thought it was one of the smaller retractors when looking at the picture online. It is a pretty large unit- probably about 3/4 of the size of a deck of cards. Other than the physical size I would have given this device 5 stars.

Rating: A Good, Strong Retractor
Reviewer: Michael Johnson, Tuesday, September 19, 2006 - View all my reviews
Ive used these retractors on everything from little guage consoles to bulky camera/light combos. The tension is strong enough to hold everything in place, yet easy enough to pull over the very ample full length. The carabiner clip makes attachment to a BC a "snap" and the split ring is big enough to accomodate moste accessories. One hint though, I have found it helpful to carry a couple of nylon zip ties to quickly attach the split ring to accessories that dont have a good split ring attach point. Also works good on rental gear when you dont want to fumble with a split ring and can easily just cut the zip tie after the dive to return the rental.

Rating: Bulky, but good tension
Reviewer: William R., Thursday, January 11, 2007 - View all my reviews
I bought this to use with an Oceanic Datamax console. Its fairly large when compared with the console, but the split ring fits over the quick disconnect great and the line doesnt extend at all when out of water. All smaller retractors I tried would allow the console to sag. It has plenty of line and is not overly tensioned to allow use of the compass underwater.

Rating: Retractor cable
Reviewer: Timothy Powell, Thursday, October 12, 2006 - View all my reviews
Big, durable retractor cable. I use it to attach my Aeris Atmos 2 dive computer console to my BC so it doesnt drag across the bottom or drift away from my line of site. Cable is long enough for me to extend my arm completely to use my compass and see the displays comfortably. Nice, smooth cable action upom extention and retraction.

I use this for my gauge console, it has a nice tight spring and keeps every thing pulled in nice and tight. I dont like hoses and equipment hanging down or floating around looking for some place to snagon. My son has one too, hes 10 yrs old and loves equipment and uses one for his gauges.

This retractor is a nice retractor to use for consoles. I use it for my computer and attach it to my D-ring which keeps it in front of my body. It is very durable, more than the mini-retractors, and I wouldn’t do a dive without it because of how easy it makes holding equipment.

I got this retractor for my Oceanic Pro computer. Its really a little bulky for the computer. Its got plenty of retract strength though. Im still using it but Id recommend something a little smaller

I used this product to attach my very large video housing to my vest. I used to use a piece of rope. It worked very well. It was so much easier than having a pc.of rope floating around...

Thought Id need it for my computer but, its a little bulky. Might be better suited for a large dive light? Seems like overkill to me unless the smaller ones really arent strong enough.
