In the age of push button and battery powered devices, simple tools like this one will soon be unavailable - so if you want one, you might want to get it now. Yes, this is a single purpose gadget, but it is waterproof and almost foolproof. It is worth knowing your surface consumption rate and using this calculator to match the length of your planned dive to the size of cylinder that will make it possible - instead of scatching your head and making an educated guess. You might say, "But who really plans their dives any more - dont you just rent a divemaster to choose a cylinder for you?" Hmmmm . . . If you want to plan your own dive successfully, this makes it a little easier.
