I bought this SMB for a trip to Roatan and increase my confidence. it is perfect, it is small comes with a pouch easy to carry and can be put in a pocket of the BCD or clipped to it. I deployed it twice once for practice and once to complete a deco obligation longer that all my diving group it has easy to deploy and gave me the confidence to stay in my stop even when everyone else was outside the water already. totally recommended.

This is a solid deco marker. I have used the rope that came with it since I lost my spool. Works well once you reach 25ft or less.
In rough waters its a little hard to see over waves.
I would recommend this for lake diving or extremely calm waters.

Great carrying case and good size saftey sausage. Have used this several times and am always impressed with the size of the floatation.

Questions and Answers for Mares Safety Stop Surface Marker Buoy (SMB):
Tessa:
I was told I need a "surface marker buoy with spool reef" for a trip Im going on. Some of your surface markers say they have line included, would I then still need a spool reef? What is the cheapest option for this combination?
