What sort of shock does the antenna give if it touches exposed skin ?
From the opening page of the user's manual. Users unintentionally being in close proximity, or in contact with the antenna, may possibly suffer muscle spasms in varying degrees; we recommend that users may need to make adjustments to limit contact in these situations.
how does it mount to the board? thanks
Hello Marc, there is a mount that you would need to attach with screws to your board. Then the shark shield surf unit would plug into the mount. There is also a lanyard that is attached to the mount and the shark shield so if it would come unattached to the mount its not going to be lost.

Shark Shield is trusted by professional divers in the US and Australian Navies and is mandated safety equipment in many industries such as the Australian Professional Abalone Diving.
Estimated E-Field Surrounding a Diver wearing a SCUBA7 (provided by the South African National Space Agency)
All predatory sharks have highly sensitive electrical receptors called “Ampullae of Lorenzini” located in their snouts. These tiny gel filled sacs can only sense electrical current from prey at very close distances, typically much less than one meter. As sharks can only sense electrical currents at very short distance and all electrical currents are dispersed rapidly in water, the myth that sharks can sense electrical current at great distances is not true: as a result electronic shark deterrents do not attrack sharks.
The powerful but localised electrical field generated by Shark Shield devices causes the sharks gel filled sacs to spasm and the shark to flee the immediate area. There are no known long term adverse effects to the shark and as a result Shark Shield devices support the conservation of sharks by removing the need for culling or other lethal means of managing human and shark interactions. Shark Shield devices do not affect other ocean creatures.
Trusted by thousands of professionals around the world the SCUBA7 is a must have piece of safety equipment, just like a seat belt. It is comfortable and lightweight, stored in a neoprene pouch that easily attaches to your ankle, with the low drag antenna trailing behind providing complete freedom to enjoy your scuba diving, sports diving or technical diving. Our rechargeable lithium ion battery provides up to seven hours of use, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the ocean with the confidence of knowing you are protected by Shark Shield and a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.
