Rating: hook too big, string not easy to manage
Reviewer: David Herzog, Sunday, April 25, 2010 - View all my reviews
Bought this for my trip to Palau, but ended up using the ones provided by the dive shop (shark hooks with the point ground off). The hook is way too big and doesnt hook easily to small areas. Also the rope is nylon and doesnt roll up or "daisy chain" well.
I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because the brass clip is top quality! I use it for other things now.

Rating: Trident Reef Hook
Reviewer: Elaine H., Monday, September 29, 2008
Useful, but with room for improvement. This product has a single metal hook and a somewhat thin, easily tangled rope, which in turn, is meant to be clipped to your BC. It does work as intended, but could be more useful with a treble hook type grabbing mechanism and rope that would not be so easily tangled. I have used one issued by a dive operation that worked better.

This is a small and compact piece of kit to keep in your bag. rope and hook is of good quality. I have also used this when my DPV cord broke. It was a great temp subsitute.

Rating: Reef hook did its job
Reviewer: kristin r., Thursday, August 14, 2008
It is a very simple item, but it worked nicely for a variety of reasons. The plastic rope does not wind up nicely for stashing in your BC until you need it.

This is the second hook I purchased, Hook is great. Change out the nylon line provided with a higher quality line and you have a hook that will last a lifetime.

A simple, inexpensive hook that keeps you in place. Tucks away neatly in a BC pocket. Useful for other things as well. The challenge is hooking the reef without damaging the reef.
