having the safety sausage is in case of an emergency and thanks to our dive training, the dive masters on the boats for the excelent breifings we have not had to use our safety equipment. but it is nice to have it just in case

bought 2 of these before going to mexico for a week. one for me and one for my better half.
we practiced them on dry land and they are TALL and i would think visible even in somewhat choppy waves 3-5 high although we never had to use them.

I purchase two 8 safety sausages one for me and one for my wife in preparation for the scuba diving trip to the Gulf. In fact I had to deploy the sausage during one dive since I did not finish the dive at the boat and had to be picked up by the recovery boat. The sausage was deployed for visibility. The sausage was easy to inflate, however, it would not stand up once inflated, it would just lay on the water. I had to hold it in the middle while holding on to the morring line to get it to stand up. This would essencially cut the height of the sausage in half.

Rating: Not very tasty!

This sausage tasted terrible! However it does fit nicely in a BC pocket, wrapped in its little compact bag. You dont even know its there, but its nice to have just in case! Good size and very bright. Worth the few bucks it is.

Rating: Good value

Took the Safety Sausage for the 11 day dive trip to Komodo. It worked well - used it twice. Would be nice to have an option to hook it up to the BCD and to inflate it using the power inflator. Overall, good value for the money.

This was great. So compact but when needed it was easy to inflate and the boat did see us when it came up. It snapped on to my BC and I would highly recommend this for use and for its storage afterwards.

As a 6 safety sausage it is easy to inflate and very visible in high seas. However, the wind can blow it over, making it hard to stay upright. I attached one of my spare weights to it to hold it down in the water. This allowed the inflated tube to stay upright without me holding it. I also wanted to get at it quickly, so I rolled it up and put a velcro strap around it. The velcro is permanently attached to my BC pocket. The sausage is now easy to unroll in the water and the weight fits in the bag that comes with it. All was attached to my BC with the sturdy harden plastic clip. I am satisfied with the product. I may attach a dive emblem on it, some time in the future. The tube takes the writing of a sharpie pen. So I put my name on it, just in case I am in a situation where it is off and gets mixed with the gear of others. Mary S

GREAT PRODUCT, I LOVE THE FACT THAT IT KEEPS AIR. IT DOES NOT FILL UP AS EASY AS THE OPEN BOTTOM SAUSAGES, HOWEVER IT IS NICE ONCE IT IS FULL KNOWING THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT KEEPING IT IN THE WATER TO KEEP THE AIR IN IT. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ULTIMATE EASE, THIS MAY NOT BE THE BEST SAUSAGE FOR YOU. IT IS SOMETIMES A LITTLE HINDERING ON GETTING ALL OF THE AIR OUT BEFORE YOU ROLL IT BACK UP, I STILL LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE OTHERS. IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE, GET ONE! ITS A GREAT GIFT FOR A NEW DIVER!

PRODUCT WORKED WELL WITH NO PROBLEMS. I AM FAIRLY NEW TO SCUBA [100 DIVES] AND NOW REALIZE THAT THIS STYLE SAUSAGE
HAS NO USE IN AN AREA WITH ANY POSSIBILTY OF BOAT TRAFFIC.
ITS HEIGHT ATTRACTED MY ATTENTION AND IT IS TALL,BUT THE
BEST SAUSAGE FOR TRAFFIC ARES MUST BE INFLATABLE UNDERWATER
BEFORE YOU COME TO THE SURFACE. I WILL PURCHASE THAT STYLE BEFORE MY NEXT TRIP. IN AREAS WITH NO OTHER BOATS AROUND THIS STYLE MIGHT FIT YOUR NEEDS AT A GOOD PRICE. IT DOUBLES AS A FLOAT TO LAY ON AND STILL HAVE EACH END POP
UP ENOUGH TO BE SEEN AT A DISTANCE.

We dive primarily in the Pacific NW - no matter how good your navigation skills are, you never know if you may have to surface in rough waters, strong currents, or away from your boat. I havent had to use it but feel better that I have it.
