Rating: safety sausage
Reviewer: Mary Salaja, Monday, May 12, 2008
As a 6 safety sausage it is easy to inflate and very visible in high seas. However, the wind can blow it over, making it hard to stay upright. I attached one of my spare weights to it to hold it down in the water. This allowed the inflated tube to stay upright without me holding it. I also wanted to get at it quickly, so I rolled it up and put a velcro strap around it. The velcro is permanently attached to my BC pocket. The sausage is now easy to unroll in the water and the weight fits in the bag that comes with it. All was attached to my BC with the sturdy harden plastic clip. I am satisfied with the product. I may attach a dive emblem on it, some time in the future. The tube takes the writing of a sharpie pen. So I put my name on it, just in case I am in a situation where it is off and gets mixed with the gear of others. Mary S

PRODUCT WORKED WELL WITH NO PROBLEMS. I AM FAIRLY NEW TO SCUBA [100 DIVES] AND NOW REALIZE THAT THIS STYLE SAUSAGE HAS NO USE IN AN AREA WITH ANY POSSIBILTY OF BOAT TRAFFIC. ITS HEIGHT ATTRACTED MY ATTENTION AND IT IS TALL,BUT THE BEST SAUSAGE FOR TRAFFIC ARES MUST BE INFLATABLE UNDERWATER BEFORE YOU COME TO THE SURFACE. I WILL PURCHASE THAT STYLE BEFORE MY NEXT TRIP. IN AREAS WITH NO OTHER BOATS AROUND THIS STYLE MIGHT FIT YOUR NEEDS AT A GOOD PRICE. IT DOUBLES AS A FLOAT TO LAY ON AND STILL HAVE EACH END POP UP ENOUGH TO BE SEEN AT A DISTANCE.

Rating: MUST HAVE!
Reviewer: Valerie Simonson, Tuesday, May 08, 2007 - View all my reviews
GREAT PRODUCT, I LOVE THE FACT THAT IT KEEPS AIR. IT DOES NOT FILL UP AS EASY AS THE OPEN BOTTOM SAUSAGES, HOWEVER IT IS NICE ONCE IT IS FULL KNOWING THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT KEEPING IT IN THE WATER TO KEEP THE AIR IN IT. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ULTIMATE EASE, THIS MAY NOT BE THE BEST SAUSAGE FOR YOU. IT IS SOMETIMES A LITTLE HINDERING ON GETTING ALL OF THE AIR OUT BEFORE YOU ROLL IT BACK UP, I STILL LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE OTHERS. IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE, GET ONE! ITS A GREAT GIFT FOR A NEW DIVER!

Rating: good idea good value could be wider

every open-water diver needs a safety sausage or flag. the 6-foot length is tall enough, but it is a little "skinny". i like the grommet at the top to hang a strobe. no solas radar reflector. cant be inflated by a hose or reg have to use your mouth. i carry it for protected areas like the caribbean, but use my halcyon super big alert marker for pacific and more demanding areas.

Rating: Havent uses but good to have
Reviewer: Billie Jean Miles, Friday, September 22, 2006 - View all my reviews
As far as safety gear is concerned, I go by the old saying its good to have and not need, Then to need it and not have it. The sausage looks like it will be easily deployabel. I cant say that with this piece of equipment that I am looking forward to using it.But when I need to this will be perfect.

We dive primarily in the Pacific NW - no matter how good your navigation skills are, you never know if you may have to surface in rough waters, strong currents, or away from your boat. I havent had to use it but feel better that I have it.

Rating: being prepared

the only time the safety sausage has been inflated was when I received it. I hope that I never need to use it, but I am a Good Boy Scout ( many many years ago ) and always believe in being prepared.

Not a bad little setup. Inflates easy under water. Easy to be seen on the surface. The best feature is that it is a very compact unit.

Rating: less bulk in a 6ft sausage

This sausage is smaller in diameter than many of the others, so it is less bulky rolled up and also inflates very quickly.
