Having seen divers come up a ways away, with a need to get attention, I bought this whistle. I tried it on a recent dive in the Atlantic and yes it can be heard quite a distance. I will keep it attached to my BCD

Rating: Hold on to your ears

This whistle is loud and simply made. I bought the red one as I stick with Red/Orange for all of my life safety products. Dunked it in water and started blowing with no hesitation making a loud and shrill noise. Highly recommended.

I have no doubt that should I ever need to use this whistle in an emergency, someone will certainly hear it- and they could very well be a mile away or more! This very simple, lightweight whistle has no moving parts inside, yet is as loud as any whistle I have ever heard.
Would definitely recommend.

Rating: Needs some getting used to for optimal use

The strength of the sound produced by this whistle varies quite much depending on how strongly you blow on it and on where you place your lips. Once you figure it out, it works fine. May be a problem in emergency situations when some one who is not familiar with it is using it.

As a dad, I want to be sure I take the measures needed for more peace of mind that my kids and I are safe while diving. This includes when we surface so I made sure we all had a safety sausage. A audible signal was missing leading me to purchase this whistle. I tend to question advertising claims so I tested it to see if the claims held true. I submerged and filled it with water, it produced as piercing a sound and volume as it does dry. This whistle is a good value and performs as claimed.

I have a hurricane whistle that is pea-less like this one, but much louder and clearer. This one is compact, but I will stick with the louder one.

This whistle is great. Loudest whistle Ive ever used. Small, compact, and definitely an attention getter. The price is definitely right. Wouldnt dive without it.
No need to try other whistles or look for a better one because it is the best.
