im recently got to use my dive alert on a trip i took to isla de la guardia mexico where my dive alert came in handy and i had to use it because of an o ring that blew out on my first stage where i have a transmitter hooked up to it. the boat was at least a 1/2 mile away when we surfaced i had forgotten that i had installed it on my bc when it occured to me that i had put it on, we had tried whistling but no one could hear us i then remembered my dive alert and put it to the test they heard the super loud high pitched sound & within a few minutes the zodiac came & picked us up no telling how long we would have waited for help if i didnt have the dive alert thx. for selling me such a great product i highly recomend it to every single diver out there 1000 percent

the underwater alert worked great. everyone on the trip that I just back from loved it. there is no question that you get people attention with the quacking duck sound underwater. did not need to use the surface signal, but did test it and it is VERY loud!I like that it has the two signaling options on the one unit was easy to change from underwater to surface, best price at scuba.com

This is a good value. Fits the auxiliary-air type BC inflation systems. It does make the inflation hose a bit longer but provides a very loud surface horn. The underwater noise is a quaking sound when the button is depressed long enough. This was half the cost offered by the shops.

Rating: Just had a chance to use Dive Alert Plus in Cayman Island

Of course the above water portion works famously but I admit I was a bit skeptical of the underwater performance. While on my fourth dive of the trip in the Caymans over the holidays, I found myself bringing up the rear of the pack when 2 5 nurse sharks came swimming right up to me. I let out a quack and all were alerted to the nice treat of our visiters. Nice!

Overall a good product. VERY loud above water which is what I bought it for as Im going on a boat trip in Mexico. Although your buddy has to be right next to you to hear the underwater mode. I have a Seaquest Balance BC and the inline couplings to the low pressure hose leaks slightly when I bend the hose to check my alternate air source. For the price a very good deal.

Rating: Dive Alert

I purchased a Dive Alert for my wife before a trip to Indonesia where the currents can be unpredictable and swift. Fortunately, she never had to use it. However, having something more than a tank banger (below water) and whistle (at the surface) gave her and I a little more piece of mind. Now, I need to get one.

Rating: I guess Im the party pooper

I switched to an alternate air inflator regulator and had to get a new "noisemaker" as my old one, an AquaTech "quacker", would not fit on the new high flow coupling. I decided after reading the glowing reviews on this site, to get the Dive Alert Plus so as to have both surface and underwater capability. The surface horn is great. I cannot immagine any boat crew not hearing that blast. The underwater signal is another story. The underwater horn in my opinion produces a only a stream of bubbles. The volume of the sound is pathetic compared to my old "quacker". My quacker was much more sturdily built and emits no visible bubble stream. In addition, the size of the Dive Alert Plus makes it difficult to use my alternate air inflator regulator. The constuction also seems a bit flimsey and I worry that it would eventually snap off with causual use. I plan to get a tank pinger and an original Dive Alert. I feel that emergency surface signaling is probably more important than underwater signaling. While I respect the opinions of the positive rerviewers, I certainly cannot agree with them. I can only suspect that they have never used an underwater signal device like AquaTechs "quacker."

Rating: LOUD very LOUD

Read the directions. When they say hold your ears below the water when you push the button - They are not kidding. It is not a fog horn sound, rather an ear piercing SCREAM. I know it will get someones attention if needed. The underwater sound is good but doesnt turn someone around to look. My buddy can hear it easily from 10 feet away - but he was waiting for it too. Above water - Awesome. Below - So so...

purchased for my husband, hopefully it will benefit him as he scubas with his friends they are all fairly new at the sport, and i like for him to have as much protection as possible. seems like the best of both worlds, since it can be used both underwater and on the surface.
