Low Profile Slate

By Critter F.

Great for taking notes while doing photos or video; writing notes to buddies; mapping; fish ID, etc. Stays right on the arm where you need it; and not dragging the reef!

Smart Design

We`ve all seen slates hanging down off of BCD`s ruining trim or small enough to fit in a pocket. This is neither. It velcros around your arm and gives you 3 pages to take notes on. I start on the inside page for my first dive and work my way out with each dive. 20 dives so far and a big help for my log book Noting dive location, sea life or a note to my dive partner.I like it because it wont affect trim, easy to get to and use. It did slide around on my first dive as another reviewer stated b...

Whether you are a new diver or a dive instructor, or anywhere in between, you always have the need to write something down underwater. For the new diver, it may be for asking questions later back on the boat or shore about why you felt something or what kind of marine life you encountered. For the photographer, it may be the camera settings used on specific shots you took for review later. For the instructor, the ability to write underwater may be necessary for an evaluation of a student's skills.

Whatever your need, this Multi-Page Wrist Slate is curved to fit comfortably on your wrist and is available in standard and glow-in-the-dark models. If you have been night diving or in a low light situation (wreck or cave penetration) and wanted to write something down you need 3-hands, one for your slate, one for the pencil and a third for the dive light. The three-page design gives you more than enough writing space to get your message across. Slate is equipped with a hook and loop strap for mounting on the wrist, and the slate has a pencil that is attached to a coiled lanyard and a tube to secure pencil when not in use.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  What brand is it? Innovative?
ROBERT F  I don't recall the brand - who cares - its a wrist slate and it works for UW communication!
CHARLES C  Sorry, think I answered the wrong question before. The wrist slate works well. I would recommend it for tec and OW diving.
Shopper  Is this slate suitable for a petite woman's forearm/wrist? What are the dimensions of the slate that will wrap around(?) the forearm?
WILFRED A  I wore a wet suit the first time using it and it rolled around my forearm too.I got some silicone caulk and put lines down the side that goes against my wetsuit. Perfect fix.
JAMES O  I have a very small wrist for a man and the slate works just fine. However I don't dive without a wetsuit or drysuit so my forearm is always covered prior to using the slate. I've never tried to use the slate without an exposure suit. Sorry I don't know the dimensions.
DAVID M  Unfortunately, it's not even made to fit the wrist of The Hulk. The curvature would fit about a 14" forearm (okay, maybe the Hulk...). Now, saying that, the slate really is fantastic, after I modified it. Take a regular hair dryer to it for about 5 min and it becomes slightly pliable. I just kept at it and slowly I rolled the bottom slate down so it would fit my forearm. Then I glued a very thin piece of neoprene to it (to make is sticky with my skin-suit) and ta-da, custom slate. Between writing misc info for me (underwater photography) and getting info to and from my dive buddy, I won't go diving without it. I've went through a number of slates and after modding this one, it's by far the best. As a side, you can use a Magic Eraser (the household cleaning thingy) to clean these slates to brand new.
SARAH B  I don't know the dimensions, but it fits mine just fine and my forearms are skinny.
ROBERT F  It's one size fits all. The elastic band hold it to any size wrist/forearm. Do you wear a wetsuit?
TED S  It will be very loose on a petite womans forearm. Might even be loose on the bicep. The only time it fit snug on me ( 5'10" and 195lbs.) was while wearing my drysuit.
Shopper  Can the glow in the dark version be read easily in higher light situations as well as in low light situations?
LeisurePro S  The glow in dark is visible in normal light as well. If you have no need for the glow in the dark, you can just tget the normal version, but if you might need to use the slate in the dark, glow in the dark will be fine for all applications.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
NORMAN C  Easy to communicate details
JASON D  highly rated, low priced.
RIGO L  looks practical
RANDY M  Saw in a local shop and liked.
IVAN O  Old slate was a pain to release and write on, this will be quicker and easier. Also like the idea its not creating drag or dragging on reefs
MARK K  needed a way to record measurements and communicate while diving
Donald N  Very handy, beats the flat slate hanging off your bc.
GEORGE H O  For noting dive particulars until I log them later. Great price and liked the looks of the compact design. Seems like it will be easy to use and carry without dangling from my BC of having to shuffle around in pockets.
BRIAN A  A friend of mine had one and it worked really well.
Carl M  Easy access.
Olykene T  Very handy at work and cool design!
ROBERT G  Needed for communication with buddy. For day or night diving.
Ronald M  it is a convenient wrist mounted slate eliminating one more piece of gear dangling off the BCD potentially snagging. Multi pages allow for organizing notes or explaining training tasks U/W. Glow in the dark is nice in Wrecks or Dark dives or when doing penetration planning/recording.
STUART P  Good buy.
DAVID T  EVeryone should have a dive slate. Not only to assist communication and for recording compass and natural navigation, but for depth and time and pressure calculations etc...
BRUCE T  Recommended by my instructor as very handy for deep/technical diving applications.
PAUL O  Thought it would be good for notes - ended up not using it much
Art R  Obviously underwater communication and safety, but especially to understand my divemasters intricate understanding of Cozumel dives.
CHRIS L  Worked great but rubber bands broke so sitting unused in scuba drawer until I can get some replacement bands.
RICK W  Another dust collector in my dive bag. A plain slate is probably easier.
TRAVIS K  I gave up on these after breaking two. I dive "Halcyon" wet notes now. Can't break them.
OSCAR L  Is awkward trying to extract a slate from pocket or hanging load without knowing when to use it
