Rating: First new suit in a long time was a pleasant surprise!
Reviewer: Randy Pope, Saturday, June 23, 2007
This suit was a birthday gift. My last suit was a fully custom job: 7mm, hood attached farmer john and jacket... but it just didnt fit anymore. This was the first time I would use a the shelf and a one-piece suit. My first time out was at Van Damme (north coast of California, south of Mendocino) abalone diving. I wasnt sure it would be warm enough in that cold water. I took 5 pounds off my weight belt to compesant for the bouyancy difference. First time in the water gave me a surprise with the cold water coming in through the rear zipper. Never had that experience before. The water always came in different places in my old suit! But the water soon warmed- and that was the only water I remember ever coming in. I did use a hood- I might upgrade to the vest attached hood, which might help out with the water through the zipper on the spine. Overall I stayed warm enough while abalone diving. I was comfortable moving around and getting into all those nooks and cranies that the abs like to hide in. It was also nice to loose 5 pounds off the weight belt. I think Im going to like this suit!

Reviewer: Marc Risinger, Friday, August 22, 2008
First off, this seems like a great wetsuit, youre going to love it right out of the bag. Looks sharp, and has a great shape/fit. I havent gotten a chance to dive with it yet but I can tell its going to be warm and comfortable. That said, please note that THE SIZING CHART THEY POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE FOR THIS WETSUIT IS WRONG. Im about 511, 170lb, 32inch waist. According to the chart online thats a medium which surprised me but I ordered it anyways. The thing came with a sizing chart right on it that said I should be wearing a large and sure enough, it was too small. The return policy and service here is really kick @$$ so you dont have to worry about the exchange if you get the wrong one, but whatever you do, either order a size that normally fits you, or find an accurate chart for this suit.

Rating: Creek Surfing
Reviewer: Joan M., Thursday, July 10, 2008 - View all my reviews
Ever boogie board in a creek? Hows about Clear Creek in Golden, CO? The Akona by Sherwood 7mm Titanium jumpsuit is fantastic, in water temperatures that average around 50 degrees in the summer, in one of Colorados best rated kayak and recreational waterways. Though most folks will get by with 3mm, the 7mm I found was best in overall insulation from the cold and was still quite mobile despite the density. Once the fit was correct and a little patience is needed with the womens suit, the Akona performed well. The reinforced knee area is a plus in the rocky bed of the creek but wearing knee and shin protection is always recommended in these areas. Dont let a little cold water spoil your fun, get the Titanium womens jumpsuit, your flippers, your helmet, your board and ride!

Rating: Excellent
Reviewer: Lucas Brinks, Tuesday, September 19, 2006
The Akona 7mm Wetsuit has been fantastic. I dive in water that is around 45 degrees. This suit keeps me comfortable to where I am thinking about my diving rather than my air or how cold it is. The best part about the suit in refering to comfort, is its flexability. Initially putting the suit on, there are no areas of constraint. This lets me think about my other gear and not worry wether or not my suit is properly in place. The other nice part is the added padding on the shoulders which helps in the comfort of exiting the water from a shore dive. Because of this Akona suit I have gone on to purchase other products made buy Akona and they have had the same good reults.

Rating: Love it!
Reviewer: Jennifer B., Tuesday, September 04, 2007
This suit is a great buy for the money. I was toasty warm in temperate to cold (65-50 F) water. The seals at the wrists, neck and ankles are very effective - absolutely nothing gets past them. The only thing I recommend for people that buy this suit is that they also purchase a lycra skin to wear underneath - I found the Akona wetsuit very hard to put on dry, bare skin. They may advertise it as a super-stretch but I struggled because it is so thick and sturdy. Also, the knee pads are a little cheesy - more decorative than functional. Other than that, I am very pleased with my purchase.

Rating: excellent suit big bang for the buck
Reviewer: Dominick Attisani, Friday, October 27, 2006 - View all my reviews
i purchased this suit for my 12yr old daughter as an alternative to the henderson hyperstretch ti that i use (shes growing too fast!... for a $350 suit). she loves it very warm in no.cal cool waters. suit is not 100% stretch neoprene, but pannels of stretch make the suit both easy to put on/off and snug. well worth every penney. i am seriously considering this suit as a replacement for my henderson. sizing is a little different for mens than my current suit and so, im not risking the perfect fit i have just yet. recommend akona suit very highly!!

Rating: Akona Scores with Value Packed Wetsuit
Reviewer: Jay Hinton, Tuesday, August 22, 2006
The Akona 7mm wetsuit is the best bargain in town for temperate water divers. While not as fancy as the top of the line ONeill or Henderson products, the Akona keeps me plenty warm off the coast of Southern California and is proving to be very durable while scrambling over rocks and up dive boat ladders. The suit takes on minimal water, and flexes easily at the joints. The zipper is heavy duty and smooth. I would recommend this product highly for the value minded consumer. Sure you could spend more...but hey, you could also buy a dry suit!

Rating: My AKONA 7MM
Reviewer: Jason G., Thursday, April 10, 2008
Outstanding value, and bang for your buck. I was warned by my dive instructor that you get what you pay for and not to by a suit just because of its price. well I did some online research and found that this Titanium Akona had received rave reveiws from other divers so I decided to give it a shot. The fit, comfort, and warmth were all up to and beyond my expectations. The only thing to beware of is the the sizes run slighty small so get one size larger than you normally wear. Jason.

a good quality suit at a great price. im using the 7mm and fit is ok im 6 ft and 178lbs, 33in waist the xl fits very well which is what their sizing chart suggests. tight at first but loosens a little after a couple of wears. i found the suit comfortable and fairly easy to put on. youll need help with the zipper. the lowest working temperature for this suit is probably 49f. in 51f water i start getting chilled in about 40 to 45 minutes and i was wearing a hooded vest 5/3mm underneath.

Reviewer: Bernie Grabczewski, Saturday, August 26, 2006
I was a little concerned at first shopping though a wide ion of wet suits. however, the akona wet suit offers a great price without any loss in quality. the 7mm wet suit is quite comfortable (for me) in 50 degree+ water temperatures. this suit is very tight fitting even around the ankles and wrists. however, the suit is a little difficult to slip on and off. probably due to the tight fit. also, scuba.com shipped very quick without any problems! good luck...

Rating: GREAT SUIT
Reviewer: Dana Eby, Friday, October 27, 2006
This is one of the best wetsuits I have ever purchased. The fit is great as well as the construction. For a heavier suit it is easy to get on and the zipper has to be one of the easiest to operate I have seen. Of all my wetsuits this is the only one I could zip on my own from the first time I put it on. All of this combined with the great price and it is a suit you cant lose with. I would recommend this to everyone looking for a new wetsuit.

This suit is Warm! No doubt about it. Well made, stiching is clean and tight. Easy on easy to take off. My only complaint it the zipper takes a lot of effort to zip up. The flap that feeps the water from comming through the zipper area gets cought and then you have to unzip and rezip. Other wise this is a great suit. I am going to encourage my fiancee to by a ladies version so we both can be warm in the ocean and river. Mike

I recently purchased this 7 mm wetsuit and like it very much. It is a nice change from wrestling with the "Farmer Jane" style wetsuit and jacket. You give up a layer of warmth without the jacket but for me the trade was worth it. Thus far, I have not used it to dive the waters of NJ (which can be pretty chilly) but it fits comfortably enough so that a sleeveless shorty can be added. Nice seal around the ankles and wrists!

i took a chance and ordered this online, size ml. ive tried on henderson, pinnacle, and other wetsuits and have never had a problem fitting into a standard ml size. but unfortunately, this wetsuit simply does not fit the torso and arms were much too tight and cut off circulation to my hands. just be aware that i think they tend to size a bit smaller than other brands. it was otherwise of very nice quality and easy to put on.

Rating: Great for cold water
Reviewer: James Hamilton, Saturday, July 28, 2007
Bought this suit based on other reviews regarding cold water dives. This suit was great, I dive in New England, water temp. was 50 the first dive. I cant get over how warm I was during my dive. The only down size as mentioned by others too, was a little tought to get in and out of the suit. The zipper also needs to be zipped by others. I found it was impossibile to zip up on my own. But for the price, this suit cant be beat.

Reviewer: Robert White, Friday, August 18, 2006
I purchased this earlier this year. I have used it now 10 times. The water temperture has been around 50 degrees. I live in the Northwest where the water is cold. This suit has kept me as warm as a snug bug in a rug. I am very glad I purchased this wet suit. Quality consruction of the suit is outstanding. This suit lets in just enough water for insulation, thats it. Again a 5-star suit, wouldnt hesitate to buy it again.

I have always prefered single piece wetsuits. For someone who dives a lot, all the gadets usually useless... They sure look pretty and there is a market from pretty boy divers out there. But if, like me, you just want to be under water, you will find that a wet suit only has a certain lifespan. I would always aim for the cheapest and this one is not expensive at all... Plus it looks good, so why buy anything else.

I originally bought this wetsuit because of its high rating for value and function. I am in commercial diving school and I purchased this wetsuit at the beginning of my classes. It has stood up through training and some very abrasive work. It fit great and has always kept me comfortably warm. I will definetly buy another of these when my current wetsuit is worn out.

I recently finished my open water dives in Kearney Nebraska. the water temperature was anywhere from 58 to 64. This suite along with a hood, boot and gloves kept me warm. As expected a bit of water gets in the suite around the zipper but not much. This suite is well worth the money. I have also snorkeled in 54 degree water with this suite with no problems.

Reviewer: Richard Pawlicki, Thursday, November 30, 2006
Ive only used this wet suit for a little bit now, but so far so good! Its got a great fit, ample give, and very warm! The only complaint I have is the zipper can be a bit hard to get up by yourself. There is a flap that lies under the zipper to create a seal that tends to snag. Small price to pay for the fit and warmth.

This is an excellant 7 mm wetsuit. Not only is it cheaper than a good majority of the wetsuits you will find, but it will also keep you warm on the cold dives. the coldest dive i did in this wetsuit was 53 degrees above the thermocline and 43 degrees below the thermocline. in 53 degrees it was fine...43 started to get chilly.

Nice wetsuit for price. If the zipper was water-tight this could be a semi-dry. Easy to put on and take off. Can even zip it myself. Only water seepage was through zipper...and that wasnt bad. Very comfortable in the 55-65 degree range when coupled with the 5/3 hooded vest. Knee pads could be abit sturdier.

Fits well, generous sections of glide skin material on the wrists and ankles. Size chart seemed pretty accurate. Fairly flexible...not as much as a higher priced suit, but still has decent freedom of movement. Knee pads appear more decorative than functional. Keeps me toasty warm, even on cold quarry dives!
