Komodo Dancer Alor Islands-Individuals Travel Deal
November 2 - November 9 , -, OTHER, Indonesiacome experience the allure of alor, a cluster of small volcanic islands located just east of flores island in southern indonesia on the itinerary we call “east of flores”. your liveaboard diving adventure begins in maumere, the capital of flores where the elegant, two masted, wooden komodo dancer will meet you. climb aboard to explore the best of these fauna-rich waters in the flores sea.
this 10-night cruise on board the komodo dancer will explore the chain of islands between flores and alor, deep into what is called east nusa tenggara. crystal clear visibility, exciting drifts along sheer walls, dazzling coral gardens and some magnificent sandy critter dives combine to house one of the most prolific and diverse marine ecosystems on earth. “east flores” and the alor area are now firmly on the map of must see places for divers wanting to experience something exciting, new and out of the ordinary.
this is what we call “pioneer diving” where we go way off the beaten track of the underwater world. there is hardly any tourism infrastructure in these parts – and that is what makes this a perfect liveaboard itinerary because we bring everything with us!.
the flores/adonara/lembata/pantar/alor islands of indonesia lie toward the end of the nusa tengarra archipelago, 160 nautical miles directly south of the large island of sulawesi and 500 nautical miles east of bali. most of this huge island chain is about eight degrees below the equator and enjoys calm seas and warm sunny weather throughout most of the year.
airlines fly into bali international airport: cathay pacific, china air, continental airlines, singapore air and thai airlines. an overnight in a bali hotel is required before boarding a domestic flight to maumere on flores island where you will meet the komodo dancer.
reaching the komodo dancer will involve a round trip domestic flight from bali to wai oti airport in the city of maumere (city code mof) on flores island in the east nusa tenggara province in indonesia.
we recommend at least two hotel nights be built into your travels one upon arrival between the international and domestic legs of your trip, and one on your journey home between the domestic and international legs.
the komodo dancer aims to return to port on the evening prior to disembarkation. final disembarkation will occur between 8:00 am –1:00 pm at the end of the charter. guests will be transported to the maumere (mof) airport for a domestic flight back to bali.
