Rating: Not good for close photos and Battery life is inadequate
Reviewer: Christian A.
I purchased this inexpensive camera before a trip to Bonaire. I wish I had paid more. I was able to get reasonable pictures from 5-10 ft but anything small would never focus no matter what settings I used. It says that macro is 2-4 feet. Dont believe it. I could not get tube worms or any kind of shrimp photos. Fish from a distance were fine. I basically had to have a set of batteries after each dive to replace. You get what you pay for. What can you expect for a $100 dive camera. I did like that I could easily fit it into my BC and like I say 5-10 ft away was fine.

Just getting started and wanted to document my dives. Bought an 8 gig card for the camera and havent had any problems whatsoever. Takes pretty good pictures and video. Wasnt ready to spend hundreds of dollars for a top of the line camera. This definitely fits my needs and more. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a decent camera at a very decent price.

Purchased this camera for my wife - I have the DC1400 and she wanted something simple for herself. This camera is easy to set-up and use - Small, compact and not a lot of functions a very basic point and shoot camera - The pictures are good both underwater and on land - Very easy to use and even easier when you read the operations manual - Would recommend to anyone wanting to get into underwater photography without spending a bundle and at this price you cant go wrong - The wide angle lens makes it even better.

We resently purchased this Sealife Mini 2 with the float strap. We love it! It fits in our pocket of our BC. We also have a Sealife 600 but the batteries are very had to find. The Sealife Mini2 runs on AAA batteries, so there is no problem finding batteries. Worked great underwater, nice pictures.

I really like the camera and it was easy to set-up and start using. However, it stopped working just two weeks after I got it, but Scuba.com makes correcting these types of problems easy to fix. They are exchanging the camera and Im sure the new one will work just fine.

Rating: Great camera for the price
Reviewer: John Schneider
This camera takes good quality pictures. Some of the reviews said the battery (replaceable) didnt last long. I found that it lasted a long time. There were negative reviews concerning leakage. I found that if care is taken each time the card-battery door is opened to be sure the gasket is clean that there was no problem. I use the camera on my sail boat and for diving. You cant beat it for the price.

Rating: Underwater camera
Reviewer: Gregory Bassett
I received my Sealife mini 2 underwater camera just before going on a cruise to the Bahamas. We went snorkeling while we were there and I used my camera to capture some memories that I would have never had the opportunity to take home. Not only was the camera taking great underwater pictures but I also took a lot of pictures on the ship and at the ports. This camera works great and is small, lightweight, and durable. I am very happy with my purchase and my memories that I now have in photo albums purchased during the cruise. For me this camera made memories.

Rating: Pleased with the Sealife Mini 2
Reviewer: Bernd Frazier
The camera worked just fine. The operator on the other hand had to do a little learning. Its tricky to take pics underwater, particularly the first time around. The movie function was particularly good. Bobbing up and down while snorkeling makes it tough on focusing for a single shot. I did better at the end of the trip. The camera definitely met my needs. It was easy to operate and produced good quality pictures. It will have future use. If not in the water, it works great out.

i tried to be cheap and just get the camera without the memory card, assuming i would have plenty of storage for my photos while snorkeling in belize. not true. not only did i find myself run out of storage on the first day and have to pictures, i couldnt get them off the camera! as for the camera, it worked great, and i wholeheartedly recommend this product. i got some beautiful photos on my trip.

I purchased this camera for my wife as her OWD C-card gift. As a beginner, she just snaps tons of pics underwater as she swims past...the easy to use controls are perfect for her. We used the camera one day on land and got some very nice pictures as well.

Rating: Great Camera
Reviewer: Roy D.
I purchased the Sealife Mini 2 camera just before our trip to southern Mexico. We were not disappointed, the camera took great pictures and video. The only issue I did have was that the focus was not clear when using the macro setting, otherwise no problem. After this all I can say is anyone that has a problem with this camera is not setting it up properly or does not know how to take underwater pictures. Cant beat the performance for the price.

I TOOK THE SEALIFE CAMERA WITH ME LAST WEEK TO ROATAN AND IT PERFORMED VERY WELL. I DO THINK YOU NEED THE LARGE FLASH TO DO ANY DEEPER DIVING PHOTOS. OUT OF THE WATER IT WORKED WELL AND DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT GETTING WET. GREAT VALUE FOR AN UNDERWATER CAMERA.

Rating: Excellent Underwater Camera
Reviewer: William Henderson
While waiting for this camera delivery I read many reviews and many were unfavorable. However, after understanding why these customers were dissatisfied I soon discovered that they simply did not read the instructions and failed to setup the camera properly. I have used my Sealife Mini 2 camera several times after it came promptly in the mail, and I am completely satisfied. The pictures and videos are very clear and the camera works flawlessly. An extra “O” ring came with the camera and I will probably never need it as the installed o-ring keeps the water out at the advertised depth and stays in place. The Sealife Mini 2 camera is well made, extremely rugged, and I expect it will last for many years.

Reviewer: Eina F.
I bought this as a short term replacement for my Sealife DC 1400, while I decide ultimately what to replace it with. This item is small and compact, and does a satisfactory job. I think the pictures on land are a little better than those taken underwater. Flash is not too strong, so it is good for close up pictures in clear water. My previous Sealife has done a great job for many years. This item is good for basic underwater photography.

The underwater camera we purchased is amazing to say the least. You can not only go up to 200 feet, but it also takes great land pictures. Its so easy to use (if I can figure it out anyone can). I have had many underwater cameras and this is by far the best I have ever purchased. You will not be disappointed in this product:)

Reviewer: Ed Bettin
The camera was very easy to use and took good pictures under water and out of the water. I went on my first dive and we took a bunch of pictures and they turned out great. The original batteries that came with the camera lasted the whole week and there is still life left in them. I didnt have any problems with the memory card. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

Rating: underpowered
Reviewer: John S.
I missed out on a lot of good pictures on my trip to the great barrier reef because the camera would only go 10 minutes on a set of batteries. (2 - AAA). If it uses that much power, it should have been designed with a larger, rechargeable, Li-ion battery - like most phones and cameras. Bummer, because other wise it seemed like a good camera. I was careful and had no problems with the seals leaking and it worked good for 10 minutes... thats why I gave it 2 instead of 1 star. I am returning mine. Hopefully scuba.com discontinues this model but replaces it with another affordable model...

Rating: Sealife Mini 2 Dive Camera
Reviewer: Steven LeCheminant  -  View all my reviews
bought this camera, on sale, for an upcoming snorkel adventure in hawaii. i also bought the wide angle lenses. the program is very easy to use and is specific for land, snorkel, and dive modes. at first, i used two aaa duracell batteries and found the camera will eat them up in no time. tried rechargeable batteries and got more life out of them. for the snorkeling, i will use the lithium type which will give the time i need for the dive. the 3x zoom is quirky and goes in steps by pressing the zoom button. it is important to the proper battery setting on the menu for the camera to sense battery use. fully read the instructions and play with the camera before using. the camera is sensitive to light. the flash will use up the battery quickly. without flash, use good lighting. with the wide angle lens in place, the flash will not work well. since the camera is not buoyant, i bought a floatation strap. the only draw backs i can see is that the camera is a fair weather camera with average photos. the memory card is limited to 8gb and they are getting hard to find as memory cards are getting much bigger. the battery use is very high. the rear view screen is not bright enough, but gets a person in the right area. the pluses are that there is not a better camera, rated to 130ft, for the price. the construction of the camera appears excellent. the camera is easy to use. there is an extra o ring that comes with the unit. the unit is fairly shock resistant. the price is hundreds lower than anything close to its abilities. for me, an infrequent snorkeler, it fits the bill perfectly. the camera came quickly from scuba.com. if you are a frequent diver, then prepare to spend 15-20 times more.

This a nice little camera for the price. It fits easily into a bc pocket and is there to record memories. This is my second one so please take my advise (also the directions in the owners manuel) ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, check the O-ring BEFORE entering the water or it will flood and become useless.

If youre diving much less than you did 25 years ago, but still looking for an underwater happy-snapper that wont break the bank, this is for you. All the features are specified elsewhere, so I wont bore you with data - but the Spy gizmo could be useful, its tough, tiny, takes good pictures - anywhere - and all for under $100. Unbeatable...! Best of all, if you lose it, get it stolen or it floods after the warranty expires, buying a replacement wont break the bank. All I have to do now is persuade these lovely Scuba.com folks to send me a similarly simple, matching strobe for the same price...? Cheers guys...

we bought this camera for a recent trip to cozumel. on our first day in the water they camera ran out of memory quickly. thinking that we filled up the sd card, we went out and bought a new, larger card. after ing it, we got the same error message. apparently the card had come loose within the slot. so the lesson here is - always check the sd card before you get in the water.

used this camera on our recent trip to Mexico to snorkel with the whale sharks. Easy set up and very clear pictures both in the water and out of the water. Lightweight to use and never worried about sand, sun or water on vacation. This camera is also used to go diving with underwater which is a benefit as opposed to the other waterproof cameras that only go up to 50 or 60 ft.

Very nice camera. Easy to use even with gloves. Takes nice pictures. We dive mostly in lakes where the visibility is approx. 10 feet. As long as the bottom is not stirred up, the flash on the camera is sufficient. I would suggest getting the wide angle lens.

I bought this camera as a possible replacement for a Canon a40 (an Oldie but goodie) Iused for my diving. Iflooded it and cant get parts for the housing. Figuring I would need to spend a minimum of five hundred for a good camera and housing to replace that setup until I saw this. I just need to pair it with my current strobe and focus lights and I will be all set. If it doesnt pair well I may have to sell current strobe and buy one from Sealife,

It only has two options for focus, macro or landscape. This will take some practice to get the distance right when focusing. However, finding that balance, along with light, is a struggle with any underwater camera. This fits nicely with the sealife strobe as well. I would buy it again.

Rating: Terrific little camera
Reviewer: darrell webster  -  View all my reviews
I found this, a terrific little camera. The size is great for land or water use. The price is way lower than a comparable model from the box stores but the underwater feature beat them hands down. The last camera I had for diving was a Fuji. It was limited to shallow dives 20 -30 feet because of light issues, this one has surprised me. So I bought a wide angle lense for another holiday this fall. The dive master on my last dive uses his for professional additions to his web site and he sells them to his clients. My pictures should be fantasic this next time down to my favorite spot to dive. Im thinking of maybe purchasing the light suggested before I go.

Rating: Pretty good little camera
Reviewer: Donald Anderson  -  View all my reviews
I had read a number of bad reviews for this camera, but fortunately I didnt experience any of the problems I had read about there. I only took it on two dives this trip, but that was due to poor viz and not because of the camera. I took it down to over 100 ft, and had no problems with water getting in the camera. I also used the same batteries for both dives, and the camera was still showing fully charged when I came home. I didnt open the camera until I came home and had to take the SD card out, and I didnt take any videos or use the internal flash so that may have helped. The qualities of the photos were certainly not what you would expect from a high end camera, but for $169 and for its small size, it did what I wanted. I enhanced the photos with photoshop to add the color that you lose without an external flash, but it did meet all of my expectations.

We bought this camera to use on a once in a lifetime trip with our three kids - a Disney cruise then DisneyWorld. We figured we would take a few pictures with this in the ocean with the dolphins, the beach, and the pool. This camera took terrific pictures both below and above water. Zoom and flash functionality under water? Awesome! Picture quality exceeded expectations. We didnt even need our regular camera because the picture quality out of water with this camera was just as good. No leaking or water inside the camera at all. Great price, quick shipment, etc. Nothing but good! Thanks!

Rating: where did my battery go...
Reviewer: James M.
Solid pictures, lightweight, portable, durable and easy to use. My only strike against the camera is that it’s a batter hog and I got little to no notice that the battery was drained. On two different dives the camera stopped working because of the batteries being dead and I missed a few great pictures as a result. Be sure to change regularly because the low battery indicator does not seem to give much of a read...

Rating: Nice compact digital camera / some helpful hints
Reviewer: Kelly McBean
i recently bought a sealife reefmaster mini2/9.0 megapixel camera to take on my dive trip to curacao. this camera is very easy to set up with new format menu. i was able to capture some very nice photos. some helpful hints for this camera. 1)purchase rechargeble batteries with charger. i was able to make 3 dives a day taking lots of pictures and still have battery life and the end of the day.this camera runs on 2 aaa batteries.2)rinse camera in fresh water and end of your dive day and let dry overnight.3)do not open camera door until the next mourning to replace with 2 new aaa recharged batteries to aviod getting any water s into battery compartment.4)i found that the camera added to much red in dive mode on my photo prints,i would use snorkling mode only, this adds only a slight red tone to the picture. i had to remove lots of red color when i had my pictures developed.5) i added a 4gb digital card to the camera that will allow 3600 pictures, more than plenty for me.6)the wide angle lens with float strap made this a complete package that will last me for years to come. hope this helps you all, happy diving.

A great camera for the price. Solid, sturdy and compact. However, the photos I took came out a little dark. Of course, I think you need a light to really do it right - but my dive partner had a camera too, without a light and his photos came out much brighter. Overall, for the price, its a good buy.

I bought this camera to dive with, but didnt want to spend $200. For the price, its easy to use and takes good pictures diving. The only issue I had was that after each dive you have to wash it off and dry it, and then make sure to try to turn it on again before you dive again. Almost every single time it says "card error" and wont take pictures. You have to open it up, play with the batteries by taking them out and putting them back in and that usually fixes it. If you dont, it wont take pictures while you dive. The pictures I took I color corrected on the local Walgreens website, and they are fabulous.

i want to start by saying this is my second purchase. i own the original model an love it. as a family we all scuba dive, 2 teens that have been diving since age 10 now 16. so originally i bought one as a if they it we wont be out $1200. but it actually takes better pics than my mich more exspensive camera. its easy to use as well. however, when i purchased this new cam just before our recent trip to the fla keys, the camera flooded completely!! it was correctly setup it just did. and they ( the manufacturer ) sent me a new one without question! great customer support! however, if i didnt have my original camera i would have missed my sons 16 th birthday dives... my replacement works perfect, 8 dives in!

I took my camera diving on an 85 dive for the first time and water got in it so it stopped working. I checked the seal and made sure it was correctly in place as instructed by the user manual. To get it serviced, I had to ship it to SeaLife, I had to pay for the shipping. It has been a week and I have not heard back from them on what they are doing to the camera. I hope they replace it.

Great little point and shoot camera. Picture quality was good, both above and below water. A little tough to frame the picture underwater trying to look at the screen. very happy with the purchase.

I purchased the mini 2 9.0 megapixel underwater camera for a trip to grand cayman. The camera did very well above the water as well as underwater. The underwater was a little tricky since I ended up with a lot of blurry pictures. I am not sure if that is due to movement underwater or difficulty staying still to take the picture. The camera took good video as well under water and above water. The screen is a little difficult to see at times to determine what you are taking a picture of. For the price very good camera

Plus: I wacked it against a boat (by accident) and it survived. Minus: The memory card became unseated and I didnt know until I was on a dive and the 9M onboard memory ran out. Plus: very portable and easy to aim and shoot. Minus (sort of): all underwater cameras really need a side light to get true colors and eliminate back scatter. Ill buy that next. Minus:Really sucks up the batteries requiring a dry place and care to change them out. Overall good value (what you get for the price).

this has not been a good first camera purchase for me. on my vacation to curacao i did of nine dives. i was able to get pictures for two out of the dives due to the camera using up the battery life quickly. the camera uses up the battery life quickly on just one dive. in order to get nine dives worth of pictures i would have had to purchase nine new set of batteries. the only thing i could say it was not hard to figure out the features and easy to travel with. i hope scuba.com can exchange this camera for one with a better battery life. i will on the results.

SCUBA.COM TECH TIP:
It is highly recommended you use lithium AAA batteries with the SeaLife Mini 2 Camera.

This camera has a lot of good features and appears to be rugged enough to stand up to the rigors of diving. The size makes it easier to use than some of the smaller cameras out there.
