I recently purchased a LavaCore wetsuit, based solely on what I had read, for my trip to Thailand. I was not disappointed! It performed very well under the demanding conditions of a live-aboard. It kept me warm and dried quickly in between dives on a wet dive deck with only a sea breeze. We were doing 4 dives per day including night dives and dawn dives. It was lightweight to pack and cushioned my other gear during the 30+ hours of transit through 5 different airports and 3 different countries on 4 different airplanes. My only "negative comment" was that it fit so well, I had some difficulty taking it off in between dives without assistance, on the front zip model. I am looking forward to getting the skull cap for added comfort on my next dive adventure.

Works well and at 75+F can probably last for hours in the water. At 65F I can handle 45 minutes in the water before hypothermia kicks in. Not the same as a neoprene wetsuit, as the water does come in contact with your skin for the initial chill. It takes a minute for my body to warm up the water within the fleece, after which it forms a functional and insulative barrier. Personal demographic, 60" 185 lbs, 35" waist, 42" chest, plenty of body fat/couch potato equals size L. Tried ML first since I wanted it snug but it was too restrictive on my arms and caused numbing/blocking circulation to hands.

great product, have used it as an underlayer for some recent cold water dives and it definitely helped keep me in the deeper cold water a lot longer. only two minor issues: 1. i noticed a slight dethreading of one cuff sleeve stitching. its minor and im not going to send it back just because of that issue unless it completely unravelsand 2. i purchased the xl suit and find that it may be just a little more snug than i would like but then again i may just have to cut myself back to one latte per day and eat fewer donuts in order to get just the right fit.

Rating: Great tech and comfort for dedicated purpose

3mm polytherm by lavacore i was shocked to find out how warm this material is. as great as the tech is for keeping heat in, its still a thin suit that will allow heat to be drawn out in colder waters pretty quickly. i would recommend this as either a warm or shallow (>35ft) cold water dive. theres loads of mobility for wreck dives and i hope to test it as a base layer under a glacier this winter...will this review then.
