I do like the idea of the slate, I just need to find a better pencil. It works but with the harder lead it makes a faint line. I want to try a softer lead pencil to see if it can be read easier. I do like that it comes with o-rings, I somehow knocked one off or caught it on something and was thankful for having more. I might have to play miniture golf...

This is a good product, the prewritten slates are handy too... they also can move out of the way so you dont lose writing space. It tended to slide around on my arm, which isnt the end of the world... I just kept pushing it back up. If you wear it on an arm with a watch, then it should stay put. Really handy spot to put your dive plan or navigation hints.

Reviewer: Russell B.  -  View all my reviews
I just completed an advanced wreck diving course. The skills taught included how to surevy a wreck before attempting to penetrate. This useful tool is just what I need. The overlaping pages allows you to draw different levels or sections of the wreck and note points of entry and/or hazards. Anyone interested in wreck divning should purchase a dive slate and this is one of the better ones Ive used.

Reviewer: Michael Kyte  -  View all my reviews
This slate is working quite well, thank you. Up to when I purchased and received the slate, I used a clipboard with underwater paper. While the slate does not take lead pencil writing as well as the paper, it makes up for it with convenience and its low profile. Despite the advertisement, the attached pencil cannot be easily switched to accomodate left handers (I am one). Also, the wood/lead pencil swells upon submersion making it difficult if not impossible to remove from the holder. I had to add another pencil.

Multiple pages and stays out of your way on your forearm. Some people will still rather have a larger slade, especially for instructions, but it is perfect for my needs (short quick messages when hand signals just wont do).

Good slate but the strap tends to slide. Replaced it with a bungee line setup much better. The slate itself is perfect for instruction or big groups/large conversations. Concerned about the o-rings fo rthe pages over time but those are cheap so they can eaisily be replaced.

Rating: Excellent Communications Tool
Reviewer: Andy Lai  -  View all my reviews
Offers the writing area of a full sized slate with the compactness to be out of the way until you need it. The ablility to use either the velcro or stretch cord to hold it on allows for plenty of adjustment for comfort. Pencil holder keeps the pencil better than standard push in clips, and seems to hold the pencil together better.

Rating: Cant understand what your buddy says?
Reviewer: nathan gonzalez  -  View all my reviews
Im an adaptive diver and only have the use of one arm. As a result communication is a must with my dive buddy. My only complaint is that the strap is too loose. I simply just tied a knot in it to shorten the strap. Other than that, it was easy to write on and see underwater. Having multiple pages is great to have certain stuff already written before the dive. It does come with additional o-rings and extra pencil. It real handy for communicating and having on your wrist frees up room on your BCD.

I needed a good dive slate, but this one is really ingenious. With pages that flip you can pre-write a number of messages (especially handy with students) and then flip from one to the next with ease. Was really impressed with the simple but durable design. Great idea!

Glow-in-the-dark wrist dive slate is like wearing an ironing board if you happen to have small or even medium-sized wrists. My wrist and forearm being medium-sized, I have to wear the slate on my leg - thigh, actually - so it doesnt slip around.

Rating: Great to beable to communicate underwater
Reviewer: Mark Kaczmarek  -  View all my reviews
I have used this slate on multiple dives know and it continues to be the best communicator going. With the three slates, I can keep inportant information (like turnaround or starting pressure, dive profile, etc) and still use the other two slates to communicate or take notes. I do wish however that the there where two arm bands to tighten, then just the one. The contour keeps it positioned properly on the arm, just slides down the arm on occasion when I havent cinched the strap tight enough.

Reviewer: John Johnston  -  View all my reviews
this slate writes farly well and cleans easily. the pencil holder works well as long as the pencil is not pushed too far into it. i have two complaints: 1) the band is too big i cant tighten it enough to kep the slate from getting loose and turning. 2) the "rubber bands" that hold the plates/pages coudl be stronger strong water movement has a tendency to open the slate.

To help my wife keep track of me while diving we glued a mirror on the top slate, there is still room to write on it and the other blanks are under also. Slate cleans easy and helps underwater with communication, we will prewrite some things ahead of time.

Rating: Nice idea . . . poor execution.
Reviewer: fun n.  -  View all my reviews
Excited to show it off to my dive buddies whos forever immortalized with a picture of his dive slate floating in the deep, unbeknownst to him. Cons: 1) For large forearms, not designed to be worn before strapping on the BC, unless you have detachable buckles on your shoulder harness. 2) Hard to write on a curved surface. Itd almost be better if it was flat with concave feet to fit your forearm. 3) Poor retention strap: The elastic velcro strap is way too flimsy to hold fast to your arm. The smooth back allows it to spin around your arm easily. I had to glue a thin foam pad to the back to help it stay in place. Now I still need to beef up the strap. 4) Weak o-rings: The pages keep flipping open when you move your arm in water, or when trying to don your BC with it strapped on. All in all, has promise, but needs a lot of customization.

the writing slate works best when using a wetsuit.it is less prone to move about when stroaking your arms underwater,,when it is used mounted over the skin it tends to slip down towards the elbow. the pencil should be changed to one with a heavyer graphite as it is hard to read under water.other than that it works well.also the slate cleaner works very well and only need a or two to clean the slate.

This is a great product if you want to carry a lot of information. Im a rebreather student and Ive entered reference info on the slate for contingency planning underwater and other info for dive planning. The 5 pages allows me to carry all my reference info and still have plenty of room left for entering data on the dive. Enjoy! Mike

Reviewer: john brandon
My wife and i used the slates in St.Croix for our Divemaster mapping project. The multiple panels made it easy to get all the details and numbers we needed to complete the project. The extra pencils and o-ring bands to keep tension on the panels were a nice touch. We always get great value at scuba.com. John Brandon, Master Scuba Diver

This really made things easier for me! I did have to shorten the strap, as it was WAY too big for my wrist, but that was no big deal for me, as I sew. However, for ladies who dont sew, it would be good to have them with shorter straps for the smaller wrists. Wish I had bought one years ago!

Rating: Love my dive slate!
Reviewer: Gloria Dye
I bought the wrist dive slates for myself and my dive partner and they were great! Even the dive master who dived with me was impressed with the ease of access. No more digging into BCD pockets or hanging slates to tangle up. The wrist dive slate attaches to the arm and is easily written on and read by your buddies underwater. The multiple pages make it very convenient as well. Id recommend this product to anyone who wants a convenient slate for communications.

Reviewer: Brian Olson Instructor
What a great way to communicate! In an environment thats hard to talk in, this little slate stows out of the way on your wrist where its easy to see and easy to get at. This is small in physical size, but big on space. Four of the five pages have two sides for those with a lot to say. I have used one slate for three dives without having to clean it off or replace it. When it is time to clean up, slate cleaner makes quick work of it. This is definitely in my bag for all my trips.
