the oceanic air xs ii is like all oceanic products - very durable and easy to use. i have one on my original bc (oceanic outrigger) which i purchased in 2007 and it still works perfectly. i purchased a second one because i also bought an new travel bc - oceanics biolite and love their products. my original bc still looks new although it is 7 yrs. old and has taken me through master diver, rescue diver, dive master, and owsi. now i have the advantage of two set upsone for training and cold water diving and the other for warm/travel.

Rating: Oceanic Air XS II Review - $179.95 - Scuba Gear Customer Reviews
Reviewer: Dr Bob Montgomery
We replaced our well-used but traditionally heavy BCDs with Oceanic Biolites, so we can take all of our own gear, except weights and tanks, on our regular diving trips to the Reef and overseas. Like other travel BCDs, the Oceanics have achieved lighter weight and less bulk by sacrificing most of the pockets, which left us with nowhere for safety sausages, small torches, clasp knives. Solved by adding small packing shells from Kathmandu, which attach to a shoulder strap, adding very little weight or bulk. To complete the outfit, added the Oceanic Air XS IIs to allow the usual control of air in and out of the BCD and doubling up as octopus regs. All built to the usual high Oceanic standard, easy and reliable to use. Most of our diving is in our backyard, the Coral Sea off the Gold Coast, and these outfits are fine at home, with the bonus of reducing weight and bulk when we dive further afield. Dr Bob Montgomery

Rating: One less hose
Reviewer: Karsten S.  -  View all my reviews
Attached this to my aeris biojac and have not been disappointed. Breathes well and I have had no problem with operating the buttons. The pull hose with dump valve works great for releasing air. Will need to get a new dive alert since the connector is different than the inflator on my aqualung bcd.

Works great. It may take a little time to get used to the button locations. BCDs should come this way. One less hose to handle and worry about knocking into the coral. I would recommend any newbie to buy their BCD with one of these.

Ordered this for a BC I had. The cost was good and it came quickly and in good condition. Used it on a couple dives and it works great.

Excellent choice, it´s really amazing how just one less hose can make your dive easier and comfortable. I had to practice switching between regulator and airII, but is ok!

Rating: Great Buy
Reviewer: Dwight C.
Some people dont like the idea of Air II because if need of alternate air source then your Air II is now a inflator/deflator and air source. Regardless I love it, if a place has a problem with it i just put my octo back on the first stage. Great buy, great product and would recommend it to anyone. Only downside it makes your hose kinda long.

Rating: XS II works fine

Ive only used the safe second just to try it out on my last four dives and it breathes easy and its nice to lose the octopus hose. The BCD inflates easy as well. I just wish the buttons were arranged a little more ergonomically. Its a great product.

Reduces the amount of hoses and gear which is always nice. Love it. Easy to use, very well thought out. All information is easy to see as the displays are large (and I need reading glasses). Highly recommended. Scuba.com deserves 6 stars as my order was placed at 5:00p.m. and arrived at my door at 10:00a.m. the next morning, everything exactly as we ordered and just in time for our trip to Cartagena. The recommendations made by their customer service were excellent.

Works well at all depths. Purges nicely and is an easy breather. I would get one again without a doubt.

Rating: .....just needs adjusted
Reviewer: Dana H.
The Oceanic Air XS II started out great! I love the inline feel, out of the way. The position of the inflate deflate are easier to use than some of the reviews I read. After 6 days it started to free flow. After the 10th day it leaked too much to be able to use it. It just needs to be adjusted, I just didnt think it would need adjusting so soon. Minor detail, I love the product.

Rating: One less hose, but could be better
Reviewer: Jung K.  -  View all my reviews
The Oceanic Air XS II works just as advertised. It was relatively easy for me to replace the inflator on my BC. My BC must have come with a slightly different hose than the Air XS was meant for. The Air XS came with a clip thats supposed to cover the hose connector, but it wont fit on my hose. The inflator and the purge valve are easy to find. But the dump button is kind of small and will take some time for me to locate without looking. I am happy with the Air XS II and very happy to get rid of one hose. Im sorry I waited so long to make the change.

I am very much a fan of this item becuase it gives me a back up source of air if needed without taking up much room. I have less hose hanging from me so it makes it easier to get around under water. I would recommend this item.

Rating: great unit
Reviewer: robert blackmore
I tried this out off cozumel. I used it twice a day and 3 times one day. It worked flawlessly. It only came into use once when my dive partner ran out of air. I stuck it in my mouth and had absolutly no problem. It was a little clumsy but its not my first choice for a regulator. Its a great alternative to the bulky hose and second regulator.

I bought this as an upgrade to the non-integrated Oceanic Oct. Breathes great, reduces the need for the extra hose and has yet to free flow on me. Only 4 stars due to the slightly awkward position of the BC deflator button. Overcome easily enough though after a few dives getting used to it.
