Wouldn't it be great to be able to search for and retrieve items underwater?
If you have ever lost something overboard, you will appreciate the skills you will learn in this specialty. Even in clear water something small is as hard to find as the proverbial "needle in a haystack". The search patterns and techniques used in finding something underwater are important to a successful recovery. The course is designed to teach basic search and recovery techniques to help find small to medium sized objects lost underwater. As a recreational diver you may, at one time or another, need to search for and recover an object underwater. It may be a piece of diving equipment, an anchor or other valuable object. Search and recovery skills can also make diving more fun. Finding and recovering an object is exciting!
Develop practical knowledge of search and recovery diving.
Increase your diving skills.
Techniques and use of liftbags and rigging.
Enable divers to plan, organize and search and recovery dives.
Improve your diving ability and provide additional supervised experience.
Be at least 12 years old.
Be an Open Water Diver or equivalent.
Provide all personal diving equipment.
The course involves one evening in the classroom at Scuba.com, followed a few days later by four open water dives over two days. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive your Search & Recovery Diver specialty certification card.
In addition to full ocean scuba equipment and two tanks -- all of which may be rented from a Scuba.com Store Location-- you will need a depth gauge, dive compass and bottom timer or dive watch
