Scuba Diving Event June 25: Province of Savona, Italy

We recently received news from our friends at Ocean Reef who are thrilled to announce their project ‘Nemo´s Garden 2015´! Created in 2012 and continued in the summers of 2013 and 2014, the project has now been finalized with the foreseen installation of underwater structures in which plants can be cultivated for human consumption. The idea was to create an alternative means of plant production where particularly extreme weather conditions do not make soft water or fertile land available, areas which are characterized by large differences in temperature during the day and night meaning large obstacles for conventional agriculture. The project has been designed to be placed in the sea near desert areas or coral islands. It is looking to find an alternative and economically sustainable system which allows efficient and therefore marketable production of plants for human consumption.
