My final certification dive! I could be glum about the 4-foot visibility or the absolute lack of aquatic life, but I’m not! Not knowing what would appear in front of me next as I swam along a rocky ledge was truly a heartpounding adventure!
Dive Log #4: While ascending along the contour of the lake bed I got a show. A crafty lil crawdad caught himself a minow but his “buddy” decided he wanted it & they went at it…lil guy didnt have a chance but what an experience. Cant wait to freeze again
Dove a search and rescue practice pattern underneath the current of the local river. Zero viz below 3 feet!!! After running patterns, switched to a tail race…Boat dropped two divers up stream and we road the river down in zero viz at a speed! Awesome!!!
I took a giant stride off the boat just after sunset. With my flaslight I slowly moved around Sunset reef. Brittle stars were everywhere, attached to tube sponges making for a great photo. A large ray swam nearby. It was an awesome night dive!
My first ever Scuba Dive. We swam into a small kelp forest and was surrounded by the most perfect circle of kelp. When we looked to the surface we saw about 100 fish swimming around the circle with the sun shining though. The most beautiful sight ever!
I was photographing mahi when something suddenly raced towards me. A sailfish materialized, its bill bearing down on my chest as it pursued a mahi. The mahi escaped over my shoulder and the sailfish turned missing me by inches, but I got the photo!
WHOA! It’s loud down here! Oops: The lens is off on my video cam. Oh cool – I have an air gauge! Guess I should have looked at that.Wow… I’m dizzy!!! So this is tunnel vission! Maybe I’m more narc’d than I thought! Time to signal dm & go up slow & safe.
I was 10 years old when my dad took me night diving off the shores of Ft. Walton Beach on vacation. I had practiced using the gear I got for Christmas in my bathtub all winter. Although we didn’t see much, the waters held so much wonder for me that night!
