One of the most loved marine animals of all times is the Dolphin. These lovable creatures with that almost perpetual smile on their faces never fail to delight the hearts of everyone that sees them at marine theme parks, sea worlds or happens to chance upon then swimming besides a boat or ship. You may even get a chance to swim with the adorable dolphins in these controlled environments along with their trainers, but did you know you could Scuba dive with dolphins in the open seas in Grand Bahamas?

Located about 56 miles east of the Palm Beach, Florida—a short 20 minute jet ride away, is the Grand Bahama Island, a very popular tourist hotspot with pristine waters ideal for Scuba diving. UNEXSO at Freeport on Grand Bahama Island, offers up a unique opportunity for certified Scuba divers…a chance to scuba dive with these gentle creatures in their natural environment.

The dolphins the divers get to interact with are trained and chosen from a dolphin facility and follow the boat out to the dive site. Dolphin trainers armed with a bucket full of food and extra weighted divers who are instructed to head to the sandy bottom and space out into a wide circle to interact with the dolphins. While there’s no guarantee that the dolphins will want to interact and they are never forcefully kept there, they seem to like the interactions and free food enough to give the divers an experience they’ll never forget. The dolphin trainers equipped with their dolphin treats direct the animals to rest infront of the divers, allowing them to touch them while avoiding their fins, eyes and blow hole. The divers can even get lucky with a dolphin kiss, when signaled by the trainers divers take out their regulators and the dolphins approach them giving divers a quick peck on the mouth with their snouts. Another trick the divers can experience is the human spinning top where by divers are asked to adjust their buoyancy and stay up about five feet off the bottom with arms fully outstretched. The dolphins then push each diver by the hand with their snouts spinning them around in circles.

The UNEXSO dolphin dive is a unique and unforgettable experience. Not many places allow you this kind of interaction with dolphins below the surface and in an open environment. It’s amazing to watch these graceful animals sometimes dramatically jump out the water from below and re-enter with a splash but a grace that only marine animals can have. This up close and personal encounter with these marvelous creatures with have you love them even more than you did before!
