Here’s What You Missed at DEMA Show 2023

DEMA (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association) hosted its annual show in New Orleans this week — the largest trade-only event for organizations in the scuba diving, ocean water sports, and dive travel sectors. The DEMA Show attracts thousands of attendees and exhibitors each year with new product launches, training seminars, guest speakers, and much more. Here are some of the top gear announcements from DEMA Show 2023.

Shearwater recently announced the Tern and Tern TX dive computers withtransmitter-enabled diving, capable of connecting with up to four Swift gas pressure transmitters and includes a digital compass for superior underwater navigation.

Akona’s new recyclable gear bags are made of recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate created from plastic water bottles. The production process uses less energy, fewer emissions, and less water.

Tusa showcased its Hyflex system of fins which offers a variety of blades, foot pockets, and fin strap to meet your specific needs.

The new Mares Puck 4 offers a ZH-L16C algorithm with customizable gradient factors; air, nitrox, and bottom timer; multigas capabilities; and clear segment display made using chip-on glass technology.

Genesis announced new color straps for its watch/diving computer, Graviton, which has a high-resolution color display using a MIP (Memory in Pixel) LCD screen.

Sharkskin released its Everywear shoe, a unisex design intended to be the ultimate adventure and watersports footwear. It features rapid dry drainage, anti-slip sole, insoles, and more.

Garmin’s new watch-style diver computer, the MK3i, will have subwave sonar-based diver messaging, up to 66 hours of battery live, multiple dive modes, and more.

Cressi’s booth displayed an array of products — from gear bags to diving computers. The Cressi NAXOS Masks will be replacing its Eyes Evolution line, and new colors are added to its F-Dual mask offering. Cressi also has multiple new bags including the Moby 7 in a hydrophobic material, Moby 3, Moby Lite, and Malpelo backpack.

In even bigger news, Cressi had its Raffaello Computer on display, which features a high-contrast, easy-to-use menu with surface time, desaturation time, metric or imperial measures, complete dive data elaborator, and much more, available right on your wrist.

SCUBAPRO was also present at the show with its own booth. The company celebrated its 60th anniversary by displaying its Anniversary Edition MK25 EVO/S620 Ti Carbon BT Regular and Galileo 3 dive computer. Both are packaged in a gray-washed FSC-certified wooden box engraved with “SCUBAPRO” and “60 Year Anniversary” logos. They also come with black anodized laser-engraved aluminum tags displaying their progressive serial numbers for collectors. SCUBAPRO has also introduced the new Luna 2.0, two new BCDs (Glide and Bella), and two new bag lines (Definition line and Sport line). Its technical diving equipment adds in the S-Tek Fin and the Go Sport Gorilla.
