When Scuba.com offered me the chance to test out the new Rec Fins from Fourth Element, I jumped at the chance. These awesome scuba diving fins are the first to be made from recycled post-consumer plastic waste. Growing up in Hawaii, I was taught to take care of the beaches and ocean. So seeing a company at the forefront of sustainability is super exciting. With a fully recycled plastic blade, the Rec Fins deliver great diving performance with much lower impact on the environment, which is something that is very important to me.

Key features of the Fourth Element Rec Fins:

  • Classic 4 channel fin design blades
  • Both the blades and foot pocket are 100% recycled post-consumer plastic waste
  • The rubber is recycled TPR (Thermoplastic rubber)
  • Adjustable silicone heel strap, providing 6 points of adjustment, with large finger loop to aid in easy donning and doffing
  • Comfortable, soft foot pocket
  • Packaged in zero plastic packaging

Learning how to scuba dive has taken me to places I had previously only heard and dreamed about, including the world-famous Casino Point on Catalina Island where I took these fins out and put them to the test. The fins worked great on my one-hour dive reaching a depth of sixty feet. My experience exploring the island’s world famous kelp forest and a rare sighting of a Giant Black Bass was nothing short of amazing.

Fourth Element Rec Fins in Action:

The best part about these Fourth Element rec fins is that they are made of recycled ocean-bound plastic. I can’t stress enough how great it feels to support such a positive movement in the walk to make our planet a better place. There is no doubt these Rec Fins are my new open-heel choice for cold water diving. The classic 4-channel design generates thrust on both the down and upstroke of the fin. Meanwhile, the stiffening ribs ensure excellent control, making this the perfect combination of efficiency and eco-consciousness.

I highly recommend the new Fourth Element Rec Fins for any scuba or free diver looking for a quality pair of fins that minimizes your fin print on the ocean. The Fourth Element Rec Fins are available in multiple sizes at Scuba.com and in the Scuba.com store locations in Costa Mesa and New York City.
