need Flash/Strobe advice please

Folks,
I have a non-brand housing for my compact Lumix LX3 camera and would like to buy a strobe. I am totally ignorant on the subject.
There is a six-pin (three male and female each, with a kind of a step) contact on the housing.
What should I look for? Please advise on a model or a type.
